So you have just reformatted your PC.. What are the essential programs that you tend to install straight after a format? :D

For me its..

1) ATI Drivers
2) Xonar Drivers
3) COMODO Internet suite
4) Firefox
3) Office 2010
4) VLC
5) Windows Live Messenger
6) CCleaner

1: Drivers
2: Opera
3: 7zip
4: CCCP + Latest version of MPC:HC
5: Foobar2000
6: Pidgin
7: Steam
8: SabNzbD+

Strange question TBH as everyone's will be different but since I do a reformat so rarely (only when upgrading OS) it's almost my entire software folder where I keep installers.

(yes, all either legit, or open source :p)

What Windows needs though is an app like Titanium Backup like on Android that can backup app data so all you have to do is reinstall the app then Titanium can restore data (settings/customisations etc).

Obviously only useful for regular reformats I guess.

W7 updates

The good thing about a default Windows 7 install is that I've yet to encounter a hardware spec that it can't install a driver for. The only one I go hunting for after updating is the latest graphics driver (even though Windows will install a default and update it). Everything else is covered, including wireless. Which is one thing Ubuntu always had over Windows XP/Vista for me.
