Your fave/least fave CPU range/architecture in history

Best for me was tthe Athlon 64 x2 (Manchester architecture?) - so cheap compared with the Intel equivalents at the time, with performance nearly as good. My example wasn't so great at overclocking (more likely my hamfisted attempts tbh), but the price/performance was great and I only replaced it last year.

Shame AMD have dropped the ball a bit since then - would have preferred to stick with the plucky underdog, but it was replaced with a 2500K (which, to be fair, is awesome).

However, given how great my Raspberry Pi is running, I may be voting for its Broadcom SoC (BCM2835) instead in the future - 1080p video on a computer that costs less than £30!?!?!?!?!

Fave: Not sure, but maybe AMD phenom II... Yes yes, I'm the only one saying AMD almost, but at the time this CPU was great and really good for OC'ing, especially ones like the 955 Black edition. I'm getting a new i5 CPU this week though, so might change my mind :P

Worse: Intel Celeron.... Awful things, especially the first ones they made!

Can i have two faves? I'll jump on the Q6600 bandwagon, and also the much earlier pentium 4 3.2ht was a big step up in performance for me at the time.

Worst was probably an old celeron, pretty slow really.

My favourite? Has to be my Barton XP-2600m. Great fun overclocking it.

Worst? The slot 1 Pentium II...it barely felt like an upgrade.

Best - Duron, these things cost pennys compared to the Athlon, recpectable performance, overclocked well (was the first chip i owned that hit 1ghz+). They really shammed the Celeron's of the time!

Worst - Cyrix, ran hot, ran slow and just poor all round. except the price. Notable mention goes to the Pentium 3, so overpriced it was unbelievable.

Least Favourite - Later P4s/Prescott - Every CPU generation around there was getting drastically hotter and less efficient, horrible architecture.

Favourite - Core 2 - Because it came along and saved the day, everything went lower clockspeed, faster, slicker. Modern Sandys/Ivys aren't a vast leap up in my eyes.
