Your favorutie password manager?

I've moved to LastPass for the convenience but if I were to use a desktop application still, I would definitely go for KeePass. But LastPass in your browser is just so damn convenient.

That looks awesome! Been wanting something like this, I like to keep passwords different but it's so bloody hard.

Probably not the right thread but what are the benefits to using a password keeper? I have the same password for everything (apart from work passwords). Or am i being thick here?

In a word... yes.

Using the same password for everything is the single biggest security mistake you can make. If one site is hacked then the hackers will try the logins on various sites a which point they have access to everything you login to.

Using a password manager means:

1. Different passwords without needing to remember them.
2. Very long passwords without needing to remember them.
3. Browser password managers are not secure, using a manager better secures your information.

Do 1Password or LastPass cost anything to use?

Lastpass is completely free to use, the only time you would need to pay is if you want mobile device support but that is about it (that I can think off anyway).

My manager of choice is Lastpass, been using it for years and years now and couldn't cope without it! It is hands down probably the best browser plugin I ever came across.

Keepass + dropbox for me. Never tried anything else but I'm very happy with it after a little under a year's use. Makes life so much easier and undoubtedly more secure.

Looking to get a yubikey to compliment it at some point soon for a little extra security.

For those wanting to learn about the benefits of using a password manager, or rather the risks of not using a password manager this is a good read:

EDIT\ One thing I would say about keepass is that, while it's not difficult to use, it's probably not the best option for the less PC savvy.

EDIT2\ For those of you with a password manager (any of them) on your android phone, don't use copy and paste!!

Lastpass here along with google authenticator for two-factor goodness. I use the free version (as you can still access the passwords on your phone it's just a bit of a hack to get to).

Does Keepass sync the passwords across devices? Say Windows PC to an Android device?

You get a kdbx database file which you can store on a flash drive, or on cloud storage or centralised storage if you want. It doesn't come with the issues that some people see with a cloud based password manager.

Is that easy to do, get it to give access from the phone using the free app....?
