I bet it's been asked before but my search skills are weak!

Your favourite vocalists may often not be technically the greatest singer you've ever heard. It could just be the sound of their voice or the emotion they convey. So who are your favourite vocalists? It'll be interesting to see what comes up. I've tried to keep to a reasonable number of each (male/female) and I've bound to have missed someone I love but here are mine:

Male:

Maynard James Keenan
Eddie Vedder
Ian Astbury
Jim Morrison
Robert Plant

Female:

Elizabeth Fraser
Patsy Cline
Maria Callas
Billie Holliday
Janis Joplin

Corey Taylor is incredible. You don't have to be the biggest fan of Slipknot (and I'm not) to appreciate him and his talents.

Ian Kenny from Karnivool also.

Mikee Goodman and Justin Hill of Sikth. Can't think of many bands where dual vocalists work this well.
Devin Townsend.
Busdriver. Very distinctive style, shame he's not more popular.
Maynard James Keenan.
Neil Fallon.
Greg Puciato.

Quite difficult to keep it to just a few.

Chris Cornell, he has a great voice for rock music.

Johnny Strong (he sounds a lot like Chris Cornell) unfortunately his music is pretty much unknown.

For women I remember being really surprised just how good Kelly Clarkson can sing live... Also like Gabriella Cilmi's voice too.

They are the first ones I thought of, could probably think up plenty more.

Axl Rose is pretty special.

but not live in concert - oh my word.
Every one of my live DVDs is ruined by his voice.

Anyway:
Rob Halford
Robert Plant (but not live now)
Freddie Mercury (but not live (when he was living))
Ian Gillan (but not now)
Dave Lee Roth
Ian Anderson
Paul Rodgers
Brad Delp
Steve Walsh
Ozzy Osbourne

Some vocalists I consider amazing (and I don't necessarily even love their music/band)

Male:

James Dean Bradfield
Dave Grohl
Steve Perry
James Mercer
Chris Carrabba
Brandon Urie

Female:

Kelly Clarkson
Dusty Springfield
Norah Jones
Ella Fitzgerald
Shingai Shoniwa
Etta James

MIKE PATTON

Scott Kelly
Chris Cornell
Neil Fallon
MJK
Devin Townsend
Mark Lanegan

I think Scott Kelly sounds like the earth screaming in pain. Deep.

David Lee Roth
Freddie Mercury
Steve Perry

3 brilliant frontmen with exceptional vocals. Also few that managed to be good live.

Maynard James Keenan (by far the best male vocalist of this period in my opinion...that scream!!!)

closely followed by:
Trent Reznor
Ian Kenny
& finally Corey Taylor and im not even the biggest fan of his bands, i just apreciate his talent.

bryan adams
richard ashcroft
axl rose

i'm not really a fan of hendrix' voice. however, if i listen to his stuff and imagine him purely as a vocalist, his voice actually sounds incredibly great in a strange kind of way.

Thom Yorke
PJ Harvey
Guy Garvey
Richard Ashcroft
Dan Auerbach
James Brown
Paul Weller
Morrissey
David Bowie
James Carr

What are some corey taylor songs with excellent vocals?

I've heard some slipknot and stone sour singles but never really wowed by him.
