Your First Memory?

I remember getting a slap from my cat when I was a little toddler for pulling its tail.

Remember loads of little things from nursery and my first day at school as well.

Remember my brother coming home from hospital after he was born, I was 3.
Vaguely remember various things from holidays aged 3-5, but I think these could mostly be fabricated memories, based on mum reminding me.

as for RAM, I remember not being able to play lucasarts indiana jones because I needed 16MB (only had 8 :( )

Yeah it's so hard to differentiate constructed memories from real ones at that age. Quite often, if I think of certain memories, they'll be in 3rd person...

Fire. I remember fire.

I was 4 years old and thought my 2 year old sister, fresh out of the bath and sitting on the rug in front of the fire, looked a bit cold. So I dragged the rug closer to the fire with her on it.

The rug caught fire, she suffered minor burns whilst crawling away and I stood panicked in the corner of the room. My mother came in to find my sister screaming, me shivering wild-eyed in a puddle of my own urine in the corner of the room and the big, fake sheepskin rug on fire.

After that there were fire guards everywhere.

Ahh, growing up in the 70s :D

Back in the early 40s my Dad was about 7 and he watched his older sister catch fire in front of the fire and she burned to death in front of him.
He still has the scars on his hands where he tried to put the flames out :(

I did something similar. Remeber them fires you got in the 80's with the grids of white blocks behind a metal grate? I came out the bath once and bent over in front of it. Went to hospital with a grate printed on it.

You 'probably' have memories? Son, you need to up your game a bit after post #35 because we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You?

Yes sitting for 10 minutes trying to open my Penguin biscuit at elevenises in Playschool. I was probably 3. :o

I was 3 years old and i remember watching the double decker bus coming down Durham Road in Sunderland with the mighty Sunderland AFC on board after winning the FA cup in 1973. I can't remember anything that happened when i was 4.

I remember running toward the sideboard to get a sandwich when I was like 3 or 4.

Then nothing for about 6 years. Probably because I ran into the sideboard and smashed my head open so badly I spent a couple of months in the hospital - or so my mother tells me.

So you have pretty much no memory of primary school.

Not being able to sleep and getting into the parents bed before getting told off... I remember it mainly because the alarm clock was so bright. Oh and looking at fish and falling into the pond... that wasn't fun :p

how do you guys know what your earliest memory is anyway?

I have no idea what order my early memories should be in or what year they were.

I do however remember one of these
BE40KX3.png

bought new and I was born in 1981

must have been gaming at 2 years old :O

My goodness, i remember playing on that about the sametime we had the ZX spectrum and all the stir it caused in the house.

Earliest memory, standing in my cot in my parents bedroom, watching them sleeping then deciding to wake them by crying out. I must have been less than one. I can still remember the details, the thoughts the layout of the room, where my cot was, which way I was sleeping. I even know that when my cot got move to my own room I use to scare myself by going to sleep lying down one way and then wake in the morning completely the other way round .

I think it was probably me laying down in my cot, pressing my fingernails into the squishy childs wallpaper because it left lines. :p

Or sitting on a cushion on the petrol tank of Dads motorbike, going up and down the back lane (<5mph) - start 'em young! :p

First computer memory was whatever this thing had - http://www.developpez.com/public/images/news/ibmpc_resized.jpg despite the fact that I'm only 19. :D
