Your game of the decade?

Witcher 3, set a standard to how to do side quests and secondary characters, excellent writing throughout even even now after sinking 100's of hours into it I know when I load it back up for another play through I will discover another excellent little story hidden away somewhere.

Mass effect 2 is a clear second choice and these two rank in the top 5 best of all time for me.

Honorable mentions for the last decade have to go to Horizon Zero Dawn, D:Original Sin 2 and Total War Wahammer 2.

It's a close run thing between Witcher 3, Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim but if I absolutely had to pick just one then it would be The Witcher 3.

In terms of time played and overall enjoyment, would have to say Fallout 4 - 1034 hours according to Steam!

Close runners up are Elite Dangerous at 653 hours (most of that long range exploration though) and X3 Terran Conflict at 240 hours (thought it was more). Also honourable mention to GTA V (single player).

BioShock was 2007 and the reason I have not chimed in is most of the really good games IMO were the previous decade so 2000-2010.

I would need read the thread and every few new pages so see what games I liked that are in this decade

Bioshock, terraria, god of war, ftl, elite, horizon zero dawn, world of tanks, conan path of exile were all mentioned above my dude
You kidding with that list? Elie came out in about 1950 and bioshock despite not being released in this decade is a bleh 3 isn't it after systemshock 1 and 2. Awful game too lol

Elite came out in 1984 however it's pretty clear that Elite Dangerous is what was meant.

Elite dangerous came out in 2014 and, whilst it has its issues it brings some things to the table that no other game does and on top of that is still one of the best VR games on the market.

I am biased as E:D was my vote too but to suggest it doesn't count because it is the 4th game in the series is stretching it a bit. Some of the people playing ED were not born when 1st encounters came out, I doubt any of the code from the 1st games are in the new one and hell, the original trilogy is not even canon (I wish that was not the case btw) .ED ls a totally new game in its own right.

Bioshock is perhaps a spiritual successor to systemshock but it is fully its own game and imo is a superb title . Whether it is the best is purely subjective but then that is kind of the point of discussion. It's certainly a very good title (as is number 2 which imo improved the 1st game in all areas and did come out in last decade)

Thinking about it, the game that I got the most entertainment out of this decade has to be a toss-up between a couple.

Grand Prix Legends still has new content being made by the community - a 1968 carset and physics just came along, so now every GP season from '65 through to the end of '69 is available to drive. It's the first game that I reinstall after Windows rebuilds, much like it was in the 2000s. GPL still kicks my ass even after all this time (I bought it on release in '98...) but I keep coming back for more because I like the challenge.

The other game that has been consistently installed since release actually came out this decade, or at least is out as an early access...I have spent a lot of hours in BeamNG.Drive. Many, many hours. Mainly doing stuff like this:

And sure, I've also been doing rally stages in cars, and doing countryside drives, and top speed runs. But yeah, a lot of 'Dukes of Hazzard' style stunt jumps in slow motion. Because it's just *fun* :)

For me it's Rocket League, especially the Rumble gamemode, quick fix of online 3v3 car foootball with rocket boosters and random powerups where matches typically take ~7mins unless there's overtime.

I don't play many pc games these days at 46, so I'm out of the loop on gaming.

PC: Warhammer 2 Total War
Massive fan of the TW franchise and they just nailed this with the Mortal Empires map.

Console: RDR2
Simply stunning. I’ve played plenty of open word game that make you want to explore. But how many can you just wander round and appreciate. As close to perfect as I’ve ever played in my opinion.
