Was thinking about all of the GPUs I've had over the years, so put together a list going right back to the first graphics card I can remember owning. I've not listed the specific brands, as I can't remember a lot of them.

Would be interested to see other people's histories.

I honestly cant remember the first card I had in my first system with a GPU. I know it was 1gb card with an HDMI that played GTA 4 on pretty high settings at the time..

after that it was
Msi gts 4502gb ( still got going to put it into a system for my nephew )
Msi TF 7950 OC edition ( this has been sold to a mate then got it back and now in my sons rig )

Gainward GTX 970 Phantom ( now in my mates system )
Asus GTX 970 DirectCU II OC Strix ( currently in mine. hoping to upgrade to the 1070 then this will go into my lads rig )

On return to gaming in around 2007.

NV 7950 GT, worked for 3 weeks, returned to EVGA, replaced with 8800GTS!

8800 GTS - Ran insanely hot and loud. Good performance though.

GTX 260 NV Gainward - Ditto.

AMD HD Sapphire 7850 2GB - Best card so far, quiet, cool and top class performance for the £164 I paid for it. Died after 4 years of solid service.

RX Sapphire 380 4GB - Had this for several months, even better than the 7850, only paid £150, excellent card at 1080p despite being an age old card. I think it's basically a 7870 or 7970.

Shortest list :P

Cannot remeber one as it came standard in my PC at the time.
HD4850 - AMD
GTX470 - Twin frozr
R9 290 - MSI Gaming edition
GTX 1080 - Gigabyte G1

S3 Virge DX
Matrox M3D PowerVR
Voodoo 2
Geforce 2MX
6600 GT
7900 GS
9600 GT
9800 GTX+
5830 (dead on arrival, bought from a competitor sold as "new" when it was obviously an open box return)
6770
GTX 660 (current card)
GTX 960 4GB (returned after a week due to coil whine and a weird sounding fan)

My favourite was the 9600 GT, it had a huge Arctic Cooling Accelero S2 heatsink and ran completely passive, while still staying at low temperatures.

Radeon X800xt (~2004)
Nvidia 7900GS (~2006)
Nvidia 8800GTX (12 months later SLI'd) (~2007)
Nvidia 8800GTX SLI (~2008)
Radeon ASUS 5870V2 (bad upgrade imo) (~ May 2010)
Nvidia EVGA 470 GTX (swap from previous card - overclocked like a boss - watercooled) (~2011)
Radeon XFX r9 290 (unlocked to X - watercooled, originally a miner card) (~2013)

Matrox Mistique (4mb PCI) [I still have this card. Last used about 5 years ago to set up a headless terminal, but with boards no longer having PCI it will be binned soon]
3dfx Voodoo 1 (4mb) (Gainward?)
3dfx Voodoo 2 (8mb, not 12 I think)
Briefly Voodoo2 sli.
Nvidia Gforce2Mx (32mb) (Palit?)
Nvidia Gorce4ti 4200 (128mb)
ATI 9800 All in wonder. Bought when the 9800 was getting on a bit. My worst card purchase?
Nvidia 6600GT (256mb)
ATI 4850 (512mb) Single slot reference board. Worst cooler I've ever bought.
ATI 5850 (1GB) Another terrible reference cooler.
Briefly 5850 crossfire
AMD 7970 GHz (3GB) (Gigabyte)
AMD 280x (Power cooler) Crossfire
280x having ditched crossfire.

Strange how I cant remember half the brands of the cards. Its embarrassing how I've not learnt over the years that crossfire/sli = bad. But sometimes you need a speed boost right that moment for just 1 multiplayer game you are playing.

Wow, ppl had so many GPU's.

GeForce 2 MX
...
MSI GTX 560 Ti
Asus GTX 970 Strix
MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X

Happy with all those cards. Did not have any problems.

Not many, only started building my own PC in 2015 aside from the small X800XL years back.

2005-2006: X800L (Replaced OEM card)
2006 - 2014 - Intel Laptop iGPU's
2014- 2015 - Laptop GTX 660M
2015-2016 - 3 x Titan X
2016 - current 3 x GTX 1080's

Secondary HTPC built in 2015 and still in use had the Fury X, Fury and now settled on Nano.

Wow, ppl had so many GPU's.

That was back when PC graphics were changing leaps and bounds at a ridiculous pace, there were new features and DX versions seemingly every few months. It was a crazy time.
