Your graphics card history tree?

A 7 year old Nvidia passive AGP, with 64MB memory > A slightly newer Nvidia passive AGP, with 128MB of memory > Onboard ATI Radeon 256MB shared > My current card, Sapphire 4850 X2 2GB. Bit of an upgrade!

TNT2 M64 32MB

Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB
GeForce 6800GS 256MB
GeForce 8800GTS 640MB (still using now and for the foreseeable future)

Ati Rage Pro Turbo (Couldn't even run Half Life, had to use software mode)

GeForce 2 MX (My first dedicated GFX card)

GeForce 3 TI 200 (A big step up compared to the GeForece 2 MX card)

GeForce 4 TI 4200 (Cracking card)

GeForce FX 5600 (Most disappointing GFX card ever bought)

GeForce FX 5900 (Still couldn't run FarCry on max settings)

Radeon 9800 XT (Bought at exactly the wrong time, luckily RMA'd as faulty and got a refund, so waited for 6800 Ultra to come out)

Radeon 9200 LE PCI (stop gap while waiting for 6800 Ultra to come in stock)

GeForce 6800 Ultra (Still the most expensive GFX I have ever bought at £434)

GeForce 7800 GS AGP (Dragging out AGP till the bitter end)

Radeon X1950 XT (Best card around at the time, but nVidia drivers are much better IMA)

GeForce 8800 GTS (not long after buying this one I built my son a new PC, so he got this and I had a new 8800 GT)

Geforce 8800 GT x2 in SLI (SLI is OK, but single card setup is the best way)

GeForce GTX 260 Max Core (Sold both 8800 GT cards and bought this)

The Ti4600 was the longest lived card and I only changed it so I could play BF2 otherwise I would have kept it longer, I paid full price for it just as it came out but it must be the best value I had from any card because of the length of time I had good performance from it.

GTX 280 1GB

Surprised no one has mentioned the mighty Voodoo 4!. lol. I still have that card somewhere, I remember buying it because the shop didnt have any Voodoo 5's in stock, and I didnt want to go home empty handed! :D

All in all,

< 2000: Voodoo 2 (dont know the number)
< 2000: Voodoo 3 2000
2000:Voodoo 4 4500
2000: Geforce 2 MX
2001: Geforce 4 MX 440

Stopped playing games on the PC up until 2008. When I built a new machine and retired my Geforce 4 :D

2008: ATi Radeon 4670 1GB
2009: Currently awaiting delivery of a 4890.

I've been around a while:
Tseng Labs et600 512kb onboard on 486SX 25 with 4Mb of RAM. Fine for Doom II, Duke Nukem was a no go though.

Then no computer for ages - went through a SNES, Playstation, N64, PS2.

Then moved down south, got an Athlon XP 2400 @ 3200equiv [IE barton levels with out the cache] with 512, then 1Gb, then 1.5gb and
Nvidia GeForce MX440
which I toyed with in Riva Tuner. can't remember what I got with it though.

followed by a GeForce FX 5700 LE which I clcoked up from 250Mhz to something like 450 on the stock cooler - and it took it. for three years. In fact although I can't find it, I think it still works.

I replaced that with an ATI X1650 Pro 512mb.

That has now been superceded with my new machine

Q6600
8Gb RAM
HD4850 XFX XXX edition mit Trad2 + Noctua 120mm fans.

Ther performance jump from the Athlon was, er, interesting. :D
