...has been interesting to say the least.

With the arrival of the new car, thought i would go through my past cars...

1) Ford Fiesta
Bought for £5,000 with 18,000 miles on the clock. Very nice first car, unfortunately the t**t in me decided to go too fast round a bend, went from standard (no pic's) to this..

And then to this...

2) Renault 5

Crash1.jpg

After the £4k insurance payout (that went straight back to mum, bless her) i was penniless, and picked up this R5 Campus Prima for £300 (6 months tax and MOT). Looked like this...

Then i wasted some more money and made it look like this...

BackNew.jpg

then got fed up with the engine tapping constantly, and didnt want to spend much more on it, so i decided to put it on eBay, sold it for a staggering £1,300 (still like to know how its doing now) and i bought this...

3) Vauxhall Corsa

CorsaRear.jpg

And made it look like this...

CorsaWet.jpg

Then i got a new job which involved lot of miles, so invested in a Saxo...

4) Citroen Saxo

SaxoFront.jpg

And then made it look a little more chav...

Wrote the Saxo off, so bought another run around...

5) Vauxhall Astra Merit

Which i made look like this...

Before selling it like this...

6) Astra Sport

My new 'baby'. Cost me £160 with a HGF and in need of a windscreen, the rest of the work i have done myself, rather proud.

Bought like this...

Now looks like this...

And thats me for the past 3 years :D

How about your history?

Phil

Pug 306 XS - wrote it off and got
Mk2 Fiesta 1L pale blue
Upgraded to a Mk2 Golf 1.6 with GTi kit
Changed for a Primera when I went to uni
Went travelling and came back and got an Astra 1.6ls
Upgraded to an 01 Xsara VTS
Now driving a Merc C200 just cos it's easy and comfortable.

1st car and I still have it. Fiat Bravo 1.4sx. I bought it standard except for a Clifford alarm and remote central locking.

I've had hardly any problems with it except for wear items. Gonna keep it for as long as possible and when I finish uni and get a proper job it should be a huge step up to whatever I get.

These seem to crop up every few months, still interesting nonetheless though :). For me, a run of very cheap cars... "bangernomics"

1) 1997 Ford Mondeo 2.0l Ghia - nearly crashed it a few times but it survived being my first car at 17. 20,000 miles and lots of abuse later some prat drove into me whilst stationary on the A102 and wrote it off. Sold the wreck on eBay for £400 and received a nice insurance payout.
1.5) 2003 VW Polo 1.2. A discourtesy car from the above mishap, I had this for a month and 2500 very hard miles. With a whopping 65bhp, it would show 100mph indicated down a slight incline.
2) 1997 Vauxhall Omega 3.0l Elite - lots of midrange grunt, awesome spec but the handling was seriously off - looking back it had probably been in a smash at some point. Bought for £1800, sold on eBay for £1600.
3) 1993 Citroen ZX 16v - a 306 S16 in disguise. The most fun I've ever had on 4 wheels and it only cost £350. Sold on eBay for £350 with no MOT, working gearbox or intact head gasket.
4) 1993 Peugeot 405 SRI - sounded nice, went ok. Got 10,000 miles for £250. Sold for £20 with failed head gasket and no MOT :D.
5) 1995 Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0l LS - very reliable, bought locally for £250, did 10,000+ miles, sold locally for £300. Only fault was the rocker cover gasket weaping oil over the camshaft sensor causing errors. Just needed cleaning every 5,000 miles.
6) 1999 Vauxhall Omega 2.5 CD. Cruises at 100mph+, handles much better than my old 3.0l. Bought for £460 on eBay, one oil change and one oil pressure switch later and it's still running like a dream 10,000 miles on. Still looks respectable too. Nice stereo!

7) 2006 A6 2.0 TDI awaiting delivery (contract lease). Been screwed around like you wouldn't believe but it should finally be arriving soon. Dull but a bit more respectable than the others ;).

Omega #1 pics

My first car, in 2002, was a Citroen Xantia 1.9TD SX. Bought for £1200 with 143,000 miles on the clock. I loved it, for a first car. Electric front/rear windows, velour seats, hydraulic self levelling height adjustable suspension and a 1.9 Turbo Diesel engine. It was no rocket ship but 0-60 in 11.6 seconds was just fine for a first timer. It took me all over the country and was just the job for getting to college.

xantia.jpg

But before long, it was time for an upgrade. The Xantia served me well and had proved cheap to run and reasonably reliable, but I wanted something nicer and newer. In 2004, I bought my next car.... a 1999 Mondeo 2.0 16v Ghia X. Completely standard with factory fit ST24 alloys, this one owner from new car had 113k miles on the clock when I got it and was absolutely immaculate aside from some scratches on the front wing I knocked £200 off for, and had resprayed at a later date. Paid £2650 for a car which, at the time, was 4 years old. Pretty pleased with that. Little bit quicker this time - 0-60 in 9.2 seconds and apparently 130mph.

mondeo2.jpg

But the problem with Mondeo's is, as standard, they look dull. So for a net cost of £100, I covered it in stick on tat:

monderr.jpg

Truth is, I never really tired of the Mondeo but the opportunity to upgrade to me realistic dream car presented itself with the half way point in my University Education, so I jumped at it, and just a month ago, I finally bought my latest car - a 51 plate BMW 530i Sport. Another one owner from new car, another one in silver and yes, another one with 6 figure mileage but this was the best yet in terms of condition. Quickest car I've owned to date - 0-60 6.5 and 155mph. £7k this time. Then £130 on Xenons. And £410 on Eagle F1's. And £150 on an Oil Service ;-)

Not that I know the circumstances of each incident, but the way they read makes me shocked at the completely crap drivers so far in this thread

Quoted for truth!!

I can't believe how many people have stacked one or more cars!

Passed my test in 1990, order of cars

1988 Austin Maestro 1.3L
1987 Toyota Corolla 1.3GL
1987 Ford Orion 1.6
1973 VW Beetle, heavily customised, whaletail etc
1974 MG Midget 1500 (had this a few years)
1978 Mini 875
1986 VW Scirocco - great car
1991 Honda Prelude (popup lights)
1991 MG Metro GTi
1990 Vauxhall Carlton
1991 Honda Accord
1974 Ford Escort Mk1?
1990 Ford Sierra
1992 Hyundai Lantra
1992 BMW 730i
1997 Mercedes C180 Classic
1996 Rover 420GSi
1997 Mercedes C200 Elegance

Quite a mix there of the good bad and ugly :D Cant see me changing for a while though. Had the Rover 7 years and this mercs got a lot of years left in it for the couple of grand I paid for it.

Also had several bikes and company cars in that time too.

Mine wasn't my fault :p. Doesn't stop it adding a fair few quid to my insurance quotes though .

Got this bad boy,

niceonbeach.jpg

124cc of v twin might! Bought for £1600, owned it for a year but it'd only actually go for about 9 months out of that (a 125 that loses a cylinder every time it rains is not really an ideal commuter), spent £400 on fixing it up and sold it for a grand. Basically what happens when you buy with your heart not your head. Still, as ridiculous as a 125cc cruiser is, it was a great wee bike when it worked.

Then, this:

onthebeach.jpg

Though now it looks like this:

xlhsfromfront.jpg

Having basically replaced everything that I didn't like about it, and then crashed it :)

Neve rhad a car, I'll probably do my licence soon and get something slow and rubbish.

First Car : 93 Vauxhall Astra 1.4i LS (82bhp model)

Served me well for approx 3 months and then I got bored of it.

Second Car : 94 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2i Merit

Bought it V cheap and sold it 1 day later for £500 profit.

Third Car : Suzuki Baleno 1.6 GS - Sport

Was quick enough for me, had all the toys I wanted, looked good and drove well - kept this for a year.

Then I've had about 300 company cars over the last 3.5 years, ranging from 1.1 Seicento - 2.2 Fiat Croma. Mainly new Fiats but also had loads of different used cars had a few Audis, and BMWs Toyota etc.

Since I've worked for my current employer I have owned, 1992 Renault Clio 1.8 16v - bought and sold, 1996 Peugoet 106 XND - bought and sold.

Currently my toy is a 99 BMW 528i SE - nice enough big thirsty smoker, going to buy and run more cars along this line/ more German sporty cars too.

On the look out for a decent cheap TT 225, or a 320 CLK.
