Your most disliked work colleague ever?

At every company there's at least one person you dislike. Sometimes - often - you can't stand them. Maybe you're even that person [or I am].

But which colleagues over time have you really disliked the most? My worst was a girl called Elaine who used to work in Harrods customer services a few years ago. She was a quiet, unassuming girl until she was promoted to "team leader". This was clearly the first position of authority [and a dubious one at that] that she'd ever been given and it went straight to her head. She started ordering people around, contradicting them and being downright rude in some cases - but it didn't matter - because she was the "team leader". She made my life a misery and when they offered to transfer me after a couple of weeks I jumped at the chance, mostly to be rid of her.

So what are others' experiences?

In b4 eggface.

mine has to be my former superior / team leader / manager (whatever you want to call them)

His attitude to management was that he was there to make you work. Not talk to you, get to know you, or have anything to do with you. He was there purely to crack the whip. He was like this with everyone. He would be looking over everybody's shoulder, having a go at people, openly abusing and being derogatory to people in full view of everybody else and generally acting like a ****

He refused to go to any work function, or any of the christmas parties / nights out etc.. as he belived he came to work to work, not to make friends. He didnt want to know anyone, he didnt care what anybody else though, and quite openly admitted that he didnt care if he made people hate him by how much he victimized them. Whats worse was that he could only ever victimize one person at a time. he would have his "pet hate" who he would abuse and bully for weeks. They would complain, higher management would have a word so h'ed leave them alone, then just move on to victimzing somebody else. higher management would have a word ... and rinse and repeat.

He didnt lead his team, or manage them, he just annoyed and abused them while fulfilling a role of filling in lots of paperwork.

Utter loser.

He was the sort of boss that when you rang in sick would say "i'm not allowed to give medical advice ... but ... if i were you i'd take some cold remedy and some paracetamol and come in. Are you comming in ??"

Higher management let him get away with it "because he's always been like that" even after 3 of us made formal written complaints we felt bullied in the workplace.

my old boss...

utter ******* throwing stuff at me all the time, ordering me to fetch stuff...

threw a spanner at me one day, so i threw one back twice as big :D

Financial "director" at my place. Isn't actually a director but always introduces himself as such. The only reason he even has a job there is because he is the managing directors son and he drives his (FD's) wife mental at home.

Constantly moans at me for various things the my depatment has done wrong, and the more i tell him to take it up with my supervisor the more he moans at me. Just a total ****

Guess I'm lucky that there is nobody I truly despise. As a 'manager' (hate that tag) myself, I actively try and not become a ****. I try and lead by example and wouldn't ask anything of anyone that I wouldn't do myself.

As far as my managers are concerned, I'm left to my own devises unless I **** up big time. They're all cool and won't let their titles go to their heads. We're all friends and all hang out together at least once a month. I guess there is no airs and graces seeing it's blue collar type work and the people in that industry don't tend to be full of themselves, even though they're all loaded.

Everyone is going to say "my boss/manager"

Go work for yourself if you can't handle taking orders.

My current boss is brilliant, the boss before the one i mentioned was brillaint too. I still have him on facebook and talk to him all the time.

Just because he's your boss doesnt mean you have to hate him. its bad bosses that push their weight around and act like ****s that people dont like. Unfortunately theres a lot of them who let the power go to their head when they reach the ivory tower.

Sounds just like my boss at times!

But the guy who is currently sat next to me!
Hes a few years younger than me, arrogant, cocky, annoying and as said an utter bell.
For a start he has the most nasal voice ive heard to date! it rips right through me. His attitude to the customers he speaks to is appalling.
He has no sense of humour at all, our office can be pretty laid back when it comes to jokes and he dishes them out but as soon as anything is thrown back at him he sulks and cries.
He was given the chance to do supervisor role within our team and i dont think ive ever seen anyone have such a power trip!
He became even more of a bell, shouting at, instead of talking to colleagues.
Really wound my gears up. We had a blow out one day, he shouted and shouted as he was not getting his way and when i retaliated and told him where to go he did his running act back to the boss like a small brown nosing child!
He had this post revoked and has been stuck next to me and its hell! anything i do i can see him writing up an email to grass on me (for lets say internet usage and such)
He's also the type of person that when he finds out someone dobbed him into the boss for some out of order comments he would abuse his admin rights give himself access to a said persons email account and browse through their mailbox to see if they sent the email to the boss!

Feel better after having this rant but i really do want to move desks!
If i hear his nasal voice reply with nnyyyyeeesss! one more time or the way he has to blow as hard as he can on his hot food that it sprays all over the desk i will put him through his monitor!
On a side note hes out at some mates house tonight and it seems he is very homophobic and hates been called gay, shame he says so many things that can be turned around on him!
Time for some comical fun aimed in his direction tonight! =D

wow rant over!:D

I think you've missed the point somewhat. You have have good managers and bad managers. This doesn't mean you don't like the authority though.

I'm aware you can get good and bad managers, but in my experience it's mainly the whiney just out of school/uni crew who can't handle being told what to do.

ORLY?

I used to work with a complete and utter toss-piece. My managers were actually amazing and dealt with the problem as best they could. :)

A direct quote after one incident was "Just don't lose it and smack him one!".

I had one boss who thought it was OK to swear at his staff, I absolutely hate being sworn at in a work environment, in the end I told him very nicely that if he swore at me again I'd report him to HR to which he retorted by calling me a ****.

Next meeting we went to I recorded the conversation where he F'd and Blinded at everybody and sent it to HR ;)

My last boss used to swear at his employees too. I remember him swearing at a colleague for not hoovering a band's dressing room. "When the bands come down and it's a ****ing mess we look like ****ing idiots and your job to sort it out you lazy ****".

Needless to say I had no respect for him at all and quit the company with no notice.

This is going back some years but mine was our floor manager. We worked in a small office room much like a police cell with the windows being high up and small, they didnt even open out much either. There were only three windows so hardly any natural light entered the room. Now take that and add a sound proofed room where all the dot matrix printers and a huge dinosaur of a server lived and then join that to a manager who had no sense of humour and ranked of days old bo :(

Everyone else got to sit in a spacious plush office with massive windows, lots of air and sun. No wonder I got depression! our manager would come in at 9am and the smell would hit you like a brick to the face. Then he would bring in a fat massive pad of tractor paper with endless print outs of data, always meat products with their weights which us drones converted into data on a terminal that zapped your life energy. I lasted two years there until I just up and walked out! Horrible horrible place that was! His attemtps at humour were just anger inducing lol.

There were small little snippets of fun that broke the day up like when a safe was installed into the big bosses office. The people fitting it were using air hammers and one of the sales team came in to our room and basically gestured it was her ***** which made me spit my coffee everywhere, then when a lass who made the coffee for everyone put a dead fly into a colleagues tea and she almost drank it lol.

Safe to say working at that place put me off office jobs for life lmao.

There's two right now where I work. I can send you one if you like? :p
