Your next car?

You have garage space in Sheffield for the Elise or the mx5? Must have or that would rule them out more than insurance. You'd never sleep at night. No worries parking a 200sx on the street.

Yeah it will be garaged. sheffield isn't bad at all, especially not where I live.

Well I was thinking of a prelude for next year, but Mum has just pretty much offered to let me have her megane at uni next year. Tbh the megane isn't great, but a free car with only petrol and any consumables to pay for is too much to turn down really.

Wouldnt be a daily driver... my weekend car.

Just my random list, Ive got a soft spot for the 968
The 968CS is a great weekend car in my books and you can get a really nice one for around 12K. I am actually thinking about a 944 as a run about and station car at the moment, though I think a 968CS is a bit much for a B car. Each to their own I suppose, but if you intend to track your weekend car as well as hoon in it there is little to better a 968CS for the money. All this "the 968 is not good as a daily driver", utter rubbish ;)

As much as id like a westfield for a second car, its gonna be just too expensive and a waste of money, so realisticly, when my '89 Volvo 740GLE dies, i'll be replacing it with another 740GLE or 940GLE turbo.

I said CS. Its not good as a daily driver compared to the other cars in his list. The only thing that is utter rubbish is your knowledge of the 968 CS :)

Im hoping for an E34 540 - Decked out to look like an M5 - Macau (sp?) blue with sterling silver tipped M-sport kit. Everything but the badges. Just M badges :)

Although i might be able to afford to run the M5 then, so thats a possible.

However, were hopefully talking a while in the future, my 530 is low enough milage to stop me thinking about it any time soon!!

I am well aware you were talking about the CS and no question that the 968CS is different to the other cars on the list but you did not compare it to the others when you said, and I quote, "You would not want to own a 968 CS as a daily driver." No question it sticks out like a sore thumb from the others, but it is perfectly fine as a daily drive though this is of little relevance as it would be a weekend car.

My knowledge of the 968CS comes from driving a couple over the years which I find is the only way one can sensibly evaluate something ;) I am told all the time that my ‘track car’ is no good as a daily driver, often by someone who has never been in one let alone lived with one, but after 9,000 miles in the last 6 months I would beg to differ on that one too. Depends what you want from a car but a 968CS would be fine as both a daily driver and a weekend car in my book though maybe not yours it would seem.... ;)

I'm planning to keep my current car for quite a while, I haven't got bored of rattly small hatches yet :p

I'm renewing all the suspension components in the spring (inc rear beam) and then starting to get Mi16 bits together :)

If I work in the city after graduating - midland mainline and an oyster card
For when I work for ze company - anything I want really...will see what takes my fancy at the time, although I really would love an E46 Sport Cab and then build from there

I have no idea, I have my dream car that is on the boundaries of being realistic whilst still a student, and in the first year of earning real money, i.e, what i earn in a year as a student in a month, then ill probably turbo it!

After that who knows, I do like the idea of a 350Z

Saab 93 Convertible... Aero/HOT if I can find one!... or just a 1.8t to tide me over till I can!... :D

(I'll then Just have to find a decent Double DIN stereo to replace the crap Saab affair!!)

I'm liking this saab idea more and more.
Either that or an Import Toyota Glanza 1.3 Turbo.

The house cripples your finances.

'57 Seat Leon 1.9TDI in black

Pretty much absolutely certain to be this. At least i think thats what they are dishing out currently, and 57 will be the plate available when my current lease ends.

Within the next 3 years hope to get something like a Seat Leon Cupra R, or a 325Ci maybe even an A3,

Mike

As far as my experience goes, my father ran one for several years. It was a non touring version in yellow with the yellow wheels and red decals.
As far as I am concerned, fixed bucket seats, rock hard suspension and no air con doesnt make for pleasant daily driving. A 944 Turbo would be a much nicer daily drive.
