Your next mobile phone - what are you planning to buy and why?

I'm on my Pixel 3 XL still. It still works great and has an awesome camera, battery is fine. Main issue is it's no longer getting security updates.

I keep debating what to go for.... I want as many years security updates as possible.... So Apple wins there. I don't like the way Apple try and get their hooks in and push you into the whole ecosystem though.

Nokia Xr20, Sony Experia 10 IV, Pixel 6a are options.

I may just try installing LineageOS n my Pixel though to get security updates.
Won't you lose the camera quality if you do that though?

Was a problem I always had on Android phones when I went with a custom rom

They all do that now. Samsung push their stuff. Google push their stuff regardless of manufacturer.

With my Pixel, I use Microsoft Launcher, OneDrive, Outlook, and Edge. All works perfectly as default apps once setup and never get any nags.

It's been a while since I last had an iPhone, but it used to be a pain in the arse then to try and use any alternatives outside the Apple ecosystem. Browsers were limited compared to the stock one, things like having OneDrive automatically backup photos was a non-starter. The only feasible option for cloud backup of photos back then was iCloud, and the free tier was always gimped so you were basically forced into paying Apple a subscription if you wanted your photos synced.....that sucked.

I ditched all my Apple gear over the years, it sure does work great if you are 100% in the Apple ecosystem, but interoperability is always a pain in the arse.

Haven't looked into it much, haven't installed a custom rom since my HTC Desire :p If so, then forget that.
I would imagine some custom ROMs will include a gcam mod so quality should be similar. I remember earlier Sony phones losing DRM for the camera processing when unlocking the bootloader, don't think that applied for Pixels.

I've had my Samsung Note 10+ for just on 3 years now. I promised myself I would never buy a top end phone again as they have now all reached a stage where a mid range phone does absolutely everything I would need from a phone. However, I am now starting to get the "itch" to upgrade to new shiny tech - 3 years is the longest I have ever kept a phone for.

I am thinking about upgrading to a Pixel 7 Pro when it is released, for no other reason than every phone I've had over the last 10 years has been a Samsung and I fancy a change.

Currently due an upgrade, I've been sitting on it trying to decide whether to just keep the Note 10+ or upgrade. Phone works fine but after 2 years its a bit battered... I'm not easy on phones! That and I'm getting to itch for something new. Currently considering S22 Ultra, I'm happy with Samsung, its something I'm comfortable with, it works for me, to just get something fresh would be ideal. Any hints as to what Samsung have planned for the August event? Is the Note dead with the S22 ultra basically being similar size/features? Not interested in any of that folding guff, I'll just break it... I'm not exaggerating!!!

Moto G7 Power now.

I'm interested in the Pixel 6a though, as it has the basic android OS and a decent camera. I'll wait for a couple of months to see if the Pixel 6 connection problems persist and see how the battery life is reviewed. The 6a may have come down in price as well.

Currently on a iPhone 12pro
Switched to iPhone after nothing but Android since 2010. Owned LG, Sony, HTC and Samsung, my last being the S9. Been happy with the 12pro it does everything well, great camera, reasonable battery life etc. I really do like the look of my other half’s S22 ultra as the camera seems great and battery life on par with my 12pro but I just don’t want a huge phone, would love a 6.1 inch phone from Samsung with all the ultra features and good battery life.
Most likely going to get the iPhone 14 pro but might be tempted back to Android if the S23 ultra is cheaper tariff than ip14 pro on EE

Do we have a release date for the iPhone 14? I'd like to think they've managed to ditch that horrendous notch, although I think it's required for the face ID kit?

It looks like the only interesting release left this year is Google Pixel 7?

End of September same as every year. Maybe earlier October if there is a delay.

P20 Pro for what must be nearly maybe 4 years...? Damn thing is still going strong battery is in decent shape.
Past 2 years ive treated it like a total mess and it gets a clean at the end of the day and just keeps going.....

Ive started looking at new phones I might go for a Xiaomi 12T pro or something Chinese when it comes down to a decent 6000kr (500 quid) price.
It'll probably be cheaper to buy something in the UK next time i visit.... 25% electronics tax here is a joke sometimes.
Was also thinking of just being a muppet and getting a Samsung s22/21, you just know what you are getting....
I keep looking at a Pixel6pro or top end one but i see so many bad things said about it....

Other half is probably going to pick up a Samsung S20 FE 5G soon, unless we can find a decent phone with 3.5mm and sd card.

Shame the A72 has been canned by Samsung...

I've got a Pixel 6 Pro and I'm not planning on upgrading any time soon. The Pixel 7 doesn't look like it will be worth an upgrade. I'll probably keep the P6 til next year and then see what comes out.

OnePlus Nord currently, won't be buying OnePlus again due to 5g not working as advertised and issues with the charging port.

Budget is £400 and I want wireless charging so it'll likely be the Nokia XR20 also because it's vanilla android and Nokia phones are built to last, only issue is it's already getting on a bit and I'm not sure the performance is that good of an upgrade compared to current Nord

Zero interest in Apple
