Between now and January, I'm due a payrise, which should be back dated 3-5 months and/or a salary increase as my job has changed. (for the better)
I've been thinking about what to do in terms of upgrades and I'm currently finding my 600T too big and I need to free space from under my desk. I have my heart set on the Parvum at the moment and looking at the following:
YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £263.99
1 x Asus Z87 MAXIMUS VI GENE Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £161.99
1 x Parvum Systems S1.0 MicroATX Case - Black with Orange £132
1 x BitFenix Alchemy Premium Modding LED Strip - Aqua Red 50cm £29.99
Total : £599.36 (includes shipping : £9.50).
I've also considered the following and I've read some great things about this board, but not sure how heat would affect the case as there have been some advisories around using an x79 in an mATX form dumping some serious heat out. Along with xfire 7970's it could be a bad move.
YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel 4820K 3.70GHz (Ivybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor - Retail (BX80633I74820K) £249.95
1 x ASRock X79 Extreme4-M Intel X79 (Socket 2011) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £167.99
1 x Parvum Systems S1.0 MicroATX Case - Black with Orange £132
1 x BitFenix Alchemy Premium Modding LED Strip - Aqua Red 50cm £29.99
Total : £591.32 (includes shipping : £9.50).
My thinking behind this is in anticipation for BF4, my 2500k will not cut it running 2x7970's and although I'm currently running 1 7970, I'm looking to get another one.
I'll be re-using my PSU, SSD's & RAM and the board has to have at least 4 RAM slots as I have 16gb RAM as 4x4gb.
So, what would your perspective be?
I've considered getting a 3770k & mATX z77, but the price of Haswell/Ivy-E is the same ish.
