Between now and January, I'm due a payrise, which should be back dated 3-5 months and/or a salary increase as my job has changed. (for the better)

I've been thinking about what to do in terms of upgrades and I'm currently finding my 600T too big and I need to free space from under my desk. I have my heart set on the Parvum at the moment and looking at the following:

I've also considered the following and I've read some great things about this board, but not sure how heat would affect the case as there have been some advisories around using an x79 in an mATX form dumping some serious heat out. Along with xfire 7970's it could be a bad move.

My thinking behind this is in anticipation for BF4, my 2500k will not cut it running 2x7970's and although I'm currently running 1 7970, I'm looking to get another one.

I'll be re-using my PSU, SSD's & RAM and the board has to have at least 4 RAM slots as I have 16gb RAM as 4x4gb.

So, what would your perspective be?

I've considered getting a 3770k & mATX z77, but the price of Haswell/Ivy-E is the same ish.
 
Your 2500K will cope if it's overclocked. My 3570K ran the beta very well on two 7950s @1440p. That said, the parvum is a beautiful case, and why not treat yourself while you're at it :D

LGA2011 does leave you an upgrade path to a hexcore chip if you felt like it later on.

My 2500k is at 4.5 at the moment and the motherboard I currently have is ATX, so I'd need a new board if I changed case.

Even with a new case & z77 board, there is still a chance I'd upgrade to a i7 in any case. That then leaves me thinking that the price of an i7 and z77 board would be the same as getting Haswell/Ivy-e.

Yeah, if you're buying a new board you may as well get a new chip in it, and an e chip isn't a bad way to go at all. You going to go water or air? The parvum is so sexy with a little loop in it.

Well it'll start out as air and eventually (if I'm brave enough to try it) go for a custom loop :D
 
I'll throw a spanner in the works, Parvum have confirmed an ATX version of their stunning S1.0 case for release in Q1 of 2014.

I think I'll wait :D 3770k is it :D

I've got the Samsung Evo 250GB, amazing SSD 10/10 boot waiting times are almost non existent. And the bundled in software with it is very simple to use and also very good.

My old SSD booted in around 40seconds this one is around 15-20 now. Very fast, it catches me off guard most of the time as I'm still not used to the speed of it.

As for your upgrade: I'd either save a bit more and wait for another 7970 deal, or see f you can find one second hand.

Yep, me too!!

I'm only gaming on a single 24" 1080p screen, is there a need for xfire? BF4 is a beauty on my setup, cannot complain.
 
I would be chasing the ivy E However you will need to update the bios on the rampage Gene which can't be done on the ivy e chip. As the ROG bios installs after the flash it doesn't just flash a new bios it rebuilds it but has to post to do that.

So if the board isn't brand new stock there is a chance it will not be on a ivy-e compatible bios.

Last year they did a 5% discount on pre-built systems and free shipping - 17.30 Christmas Eve until midnight Christmas Day. Going via Quidco got 3% off too although at present it's only 1%. There was also a 2% off code floating around on the Internet. Overall I saved ~£78 / 8%. Was pretty pleased with that!
