Customer's PC had in at work. Was complaining that it kept on locking and turning it self off.

The temps were still rising, as in 1c a second. Found out to be he cut the ends of the heat pipes on the cooler so that the cooler would fit :eek:

The CPU was a P4 3.6D.... Overclocked.

See where the heatpipes end at the top? ....they were all cut :eek:
i quite a noob ^^

anyways i dont understand how that would stop its cooling abilities?

with no top on the heatpipe surely the evaporating substance inside would boil away out of the heatpipes? leaving a pretty meaningless hollow tube connectoed to the CPU :)

ahh i see, never realised they had anything in them :confused: :p
