japanese graduation im affraid is a LOT LOT LOT LOT more than just a photo, and no those things are tolerated...

1, March in to hall,
2, some wierd saying thingy
3, some wierd saying thingy from other classes
4, some thing else
5, recieve certificate
6, play some song which has been rehearse for 6 odd months

All that has to be rehearsed etc etc etc for 3 months.. its all *******... bloody crap doesnt work and is of course pointless
