Very nerdy topic, but are they not the best ? :p
I'm asking for real sci-fi, not fantasy!

5-Star trek ds9
4-Farscape
3-Babylon 5
2-The Outer Limits (the 90's series)
1-Battlestar Galactica

Top gripe: no-one takes the tagline from Alien seriously.

Quantum Leap

There are so many other great sci-fi shows out there but that's my top five... I might change my mind and replace Quantum Leap if I thought about it, I do love Futurama but Quantum Leap pipped it at the post.

BSG was good but got a bit weird and boring at times
I liked ST voyager too

I also really liked Caprica (controversial choice I know...), but I don't think it had enough time to really get going. So I chose SG:U instead. I thought about adding Space: Above and Beyond, but it feels a little dated these days.

Many others I could have put down but those are my faves. Also, looking at that list 2-5 could change on a daily basis but B5 will always be #1. :D

I see a couple of people have chosen Farscape...

I enjoyed Farscape, though it did seem to be a little hit and miss throughout the various series. When it was good though, it was really very good. In particular - the finale (Peacekeeper Wars) was amazing... The last few scenes were just sublime.

Wow sliders retro

Didn't think I liked Farscape as number one but looking at it quite possibly, BSG was brilliant too but I see it slightly less as sci fi than the others. And did tail off
