The whole Caporegime thing is wrong.... I mean you can't base these things on how many post's a person has or how long they have been a member. It should be about about how many problems you fix.

I love the OcUK forums... when I can't fix something I ask for help (here) but for some reason the number of post's you make decide who you are... That's all im saying. Such system means a Caporegime could be talking rubbish but it doesn't matter as it goes by your first post date and number of posts. All im saying is it should go by 'thanks'.

Guys don't get me wrong here...... A Caporegime to me when I joined seemed like someone who 'knew it all' but that is clearly not the case.

I think you're placing way to much importance on a title and a picture. It's not implying any sort of recognition or status other than post count, so why pretend it is and feel all hurt that you can't 'move up the ranks' as quick as you want? If you're genuinely helpful you'll build up a reputation for yourself anyway - not sure why you feel you need special recognition for that. If you dont want to help people for 'free' you dont have to. Forum's I've been on with reputation or thanks systems just seem to encourage sad popularity contests, 'us and them' attitudes with groups of 'elites' who think they own the place, etc, etc.

But then I'm an old git :) Dont even see the point of the post count - I dont count the number of sentences I speak down the pub. And dont get me started on collecting 'friends' and 'liking' things - aaarrghghhh!

I didn't mean to open a can of worms :( I just think the system is flawed. The Mods know exactly what im on about so i'll shut up now.

It's about the collective knowledge of us all, I will know stuff someone else wont and someone else will know stuff I don't.

That's a valid point! I was just wishing to hear peoples thoughts on such a system which I've seen in use on other forums. Im not saying such a system would be good for the OcUK forums but just wanted to put the idea across.
