This just came up in the GW2 thread because a few of us are going to be streaming it, so who has a stream, what games do you play and what's the URL?

I mainly play LoL, I'll be playing some GW2 on the betas and I play bits of other games like BF3, Minecraft, some other bits. :) The URL is http://www.own3d.tv/MeepBeepWhirr

I don't know if people are interested in watching other peoples' streams from the forum, but it could be cool to check out what people are doing in games ^^

Edit: If you're interested in streaming, here's the easy way to do it:

Go to http://www.xsplit.com/ and sign up for an account, then you should be able to download the streaming client free.
Go to own3d.tv or twitch.tv and set up an account. I suggest these two becuse they work with xsplit without having to use custom settings. Once you've made an account, you'll need to set up a channel.
Open xsplit, under "file" click "add screen region", this is the area that will be streamed. If you only want half your screen for example, set up a window that takes up the area you want, then click it after clicking add screen region. If you want the whole thing, click on your desktop. You can set up multiple screen regions. In your xsplit window, you should expand the screen so that it takes up the whole black area.
Under broadcast, go to "edit channels" and follow the instructions, entering your own3d or twitch details after clicking "add".

You can check your own stream is working by going to own3d.tv/yourusername (same format for twitch), though I suggest muting the sound or you get a feedback loop. :D

Thought I would reply here rather than in the GW2 thread.

Thanks for the info on what you use, was thinking about streaming some LoL games now and again and any other stuff such as GW2 so appreciate the help.

Great Idea for a thread to :D

Good idea. I mainly stream WoW, BF3 or TF2. I have been streaming the Diablo 3 beta and plan to stream GW2 from this weekend onwards. If anyone needs help setting up I am more than happy to point you in the right direction. Come by and say hello in chat!

Been wanting to do this for a while.

I am **** at games too so will give someone some laughs.

Somehow, I find "game watching" rather enjoyable.

What is the best way to voice over your gameplay and maybe setup a live chatbox?

I'm not very good at LoL, but it's still fun. Not that anyone watches ^^

I think Xsplit supports your voice and the game sounds at the same time anyway, not 100% sure since it's been a long time since I've bothered to use my mic on it. Own3d has an IRC chat linked to it anyway so it's automatically set up with your channel.

From watching some of the LoL streamers, they have MIRC running with their own channel that people ask them questions on. That way they can chat via typing or those that stream with voice just reply that way.

As for voice chat I don't know, some also have a playlist running from grooveshark so you have music playing as well. Don't know how they do it but would like to as I would like to have music to begin with, then maybe voice when I get more comfortable.

I love watching streams, always have one open (LoL/SC2/ or just Dyrus :)).

I'll be streaming TERA when the head start happens, plan to see lots of griefing and general PKing :D

Also lots of swearing and banter from the TS ^_^

They just use mIRC because the IRC client built into own3d isn't very good, it's the same chatroom though. :)

The difference between voice chat (at least from your end) and music/game sounds etc is that one's the sound coming out of the computer, one's the sound going in. I set it up ages ago where when I spoke, I could hear myself, annoying but it meant that everyone else could hear me too. I'm sure there's a better way to do it though.

I am lucky to have 1.5MB Upload which is handy.

What resolution should I be looking to stream at for most people to be happy?

I like 720p, 1080 is obviously huge upload and can cause lag issues on it's own (also high upload quality can make it lag at the viewer's end if they're on bad internet), less than 720p can look bad. It depends what you're playing though, on the game you were on a minute ago (the bricks thing) you'd obviously get away with lower res. If you were on a game like BF3 etc though, they might look bad on low resolution, especially if you're playing at high res.

Is the encoding not that CPU hungry?

I would doubt I would be able to game at 1680x1050 and output 720p on a 3 core 2.8Ghz CPU would I?

If I find out how then i'll post on here. I'll ask Ocelote on his mIRC chat later if he is streaming as his setup works very well.

If you go into "broadcast" then "edit channels", then click the "general" tab at the top, that gives you your mic settings :) I've just had a look.

lol nice one :D I take it playing music over the top of your stream can be done via settings on there as well!

By default any sounds that are coming out of your computer are streamed so you don't have to do anything special to stream music, just play it. :)

I'm trying to figure out how to connect to own3d's irc channel with mIRC. Doesn't seem to want to do it :(

Nice one, thanks for explaining. Means that anyone watching my stream doesn't have to listen to my dulcet tones, they can listen to some random music instead :D

I'm trying to get my Stream to capture just the game sound, but for me to be still be able to use Teamspeak with fellow XSGamers and the stream not pick it up.

It's being problematic to say the least :P

Using DXtory & Xsplit to stream now as it seems to be giving a better & clearer stream than using FMLE.
