I'm still edging towards the ATI cards for this reason: £ for £ the ATI cards, on paper, seem to be so much higher spec's. I've just been looking at the ATI cards and they seem to have a faster core, bigger memory running at a faster clock. Granted, I may not be comparing equivalent cards as I'm comparing them based on price (ATI 4870 vs GTX260) but that is a massive difference (for the money) in numbers.
Accepting my knowledge is limited so speaking as a layman, but it would appear that if I went with the NVidia cards I'd need the CUDA software just to match the performance of the similar priced ATI.
Or am I missing something here (be gentle, I did say I'm a layman) (At 33 I feel too old to say "noob")?
