Already got a DVD RW drive.

Graphics card to follow - looking at a 9600gt / 8800gt depending on how quite they go.

Will be used for some gaming / HTPC hooked up to samsung 40" LCD.

thanks for your input.

I dont think that cooler would be suitable for that board. it's pretty bloody massive if i remember correctly. MX-2 Compound is much better and non-conductive and i'd go for the Gigabyte G33 D2SR over the GeForce 7100 board.

Have a look at the samsung spinpoint f1's
Id go with the 640gb, bit more expensive but its worth it.

And i dont know much about htpc cases but i would have though that you would need a low profile cooler?

Artic cooling do a low profile cooler that is quite good, cant remember the name of the top of my head.

And any reason your going micro-atx? If its for gaming like you said you will be better of with a atx system

The zalman fits the case no problem, needs to be that case (microatx) as its going under the tele and need to look like AV stuff to fit in.

Agree with all the above
G33m DS2R
MX2
Samsung F1 drive

add to that the mini ninja heatsink as this is a tower style that can be run passive in the Fusion due to the close proximity of the 2 120mm fans.

Nice find about that Ninja cpu cooler - deffo getting that.

MX2 ok, and so is the Samsung F1 drive.

Mobo looks good to,

Any ideas on a graphics card???? not getting much joy in that forum.

Thanks guys

wait a few weeks for new cards.
If you need to get one now the 8800gt is your best bet.
Although ati cards are meant to be better in htpc.

ati - Not really, stay away from powercolor as the fan runs at 100% all the time

8800gt - my bgf is very almost silent unless under stress

here is a sort of guide on how some HSF look on some matx boards

Antec Fusion and the Antec NSK2480 have the same inside layout
the case size might be a bit different tho

The ATI cards are probably going to be a good idea for you if you are linking your computer to your TV. The current ones support 5.1 surround through for the HDMI which would be good unless you hand other speakers to use. The new 4000 series that is due out soon will support 7.1 surround.
If you can wait for a few weeks new cards will come out and prices will drop. but if you feel you need something now, go for a 8800GT like this one: BFG 8800GT on deal this week

definitely don't get the zalman cooler, they used to be great for cooling, but they aren't that great for the current CPU's. F1 is a great idea and would have to agree on the board.

none of the 8800gt's are quiet but if you want to use 1 in your build go
for the 512MB Palit/XVision 8800GT will cost you abit more than the BFG
version but its a lot quieter

looking at 2.0 sound from quite a good stereo amp and speakers so 5.1 sound not an issue. would not the 3600 series ati cards be a step down from a 9600 / 8800 card?? I was also looking to connect via hdmi on the TV.

You would be looking at the ATI HD3870 to keep up with the 9600GT i think.

I ordered the ocuk 8800gt which turned out to be a Palit. Thing is dead quiet by default - but the overclocking software allows you to alter the fan speed if you wish (I haven't had to) :D

GFX I'd look at HD4670's they are slightly better than the 8800GT - support audio over HDMI if you decide you want to use it in the future, not as power hungry as 8800's and should do you for most gaming.
Otherwise if you can get your money to stretch far enough HD4850's are fantastic gaming cards!!
