Your thoughts

I'd never hand over my phone PIN, ever. What are they going to do once you claim you've forgot it? They can do one.

You won't see your phone for about 9 months then as they'll send it off to High Tech Crime who will get all the info off your phone regardless.

After a car accident I lost my phone for over 4 months while they did whatever they do to prove I wasn't using a phone or had deleted anything to hide if I had been on the phone. I'm sure they also took all the x rated photos off my phone of the young lady that worked in the stores department at work. I actually figure that had more to do with the time it took to get my phone back.

Good luck to them. Didn't it cost the FBI over a million dollars to get into someone's iPhone?

Dunno, but I have seen reports from locked, "no you're not having my password" phones. It took the HTCU nearly a year, but they've had stuff off it!

You can carry £999 pound around and the police cannot do anything about it, if you have £1001 you getting pinched unless you verify its origin. ;)

Wow is this true?

I regularly do this when I return to the UK!

Sounds like the girl is being incredibly naive or being controlled by the guy. Could be wrong but I'd put money on her knowing something.

Yeah but the feds accidentally triggered a reset which rendered the password useless if I remember rightly.

Two things:

1) You can verify its origin, so you have nothing to be concerned about if it is true.

2) Genuine question, why the need to carry over £1k in cash after a trip? Surely that's just asking for trouble (and I don't mean with law enforcement).

I'm guessing after they nicked him they searched and found a controlled substance, initiated a search at the address, thought that money was from drugs, but gave it back after it being proven otherwise. Guess they are sifting through the contacts, messages to ascertain if it's used in drug transactions.

I do wonder why she didn't just say something like "I've done nothing wrong, I'm not the one whose been arrested and so if you think you're nicking my phone you can think again."

Evidence in relation to a suspected offence is evidence irrespective of whose property it is.

It's getting seized.
