ok, I've gone and blown a whole £108 ona DSi XL at sainsburys on the last day of the offer

but now I don't know what games to get!

I was thinking of getting all the standard ones people do...
Professor Layton,
Dragon Quest
Mario
Sonic
etc etc etc

and I just wondered, what is everyones top 10 DSi games that they currently play?

My current and regularly played are;

All the DS Castlevania games; Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia
Meteos
Metroid Prime: Hunters
Final Fantasy IV DS
Phantasy Star 0
Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Endless Frontier
KORG DS-10
Any Puyo Puyo game

Think my most played are -

Might And Magic Clash Of Heros
New Super Mario
Mario Kart
Advanced Wars
Bowsers Inside Story
Rhythm Heaven

are the Phoenix Wright games that good?

They are much better than "that". No, I dont know, depends on what you like. I've only played the first and am saving the second.

The gameplay, and the constituent parts are ok and the story, you sort of know where its going but its the way its all put together, its perfect. It sort of like fantasy/adventure books where your with these characters on this journey. The characters are so well realised and characterised. If your in it and involved with them then you cant help but see it to the end and some strange things might happen. It sort of reminds of The NeverEnding Story.

Damn what offer was that? Im in the market for a DSi XL (not sure of the competitor rule anymore, but) G*** had the limited DSi XL with mario for £139! Such a good deal

I still love all the advance wars, especially Dual Strike, best game on the DS after all these years IMO

Didn't gel with Phoenix Wright if I'm honest, though Hotel Dusk was good

DS essentials are:

New Super Mario Brothers.
Legend of Zelda games.
The Advance Wars games.
If you're a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh, the DS games for that are pretty good.
Metriod Prime Hunters.
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords.
GTA: Chinatown Wars.
Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars.

Mario Kart DS
New Super Mario Brothers
Pokemon Pearl/Diamond/Platinum
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy IV

Eh.

They attract a lot of internet love because of their quirkiness, the stories are fairly well done, and I did enjoy them the first time through, but frankly, they are too many times when you're relegated to complete guesses as to what you should be doing next.

I know you get that in any point and click game, but unlike most of those, Pheonix Wright games force you to have a "health" bar, so that after a few wrong guesses, you have to restart from the last save. Personally I just found that a bit tiresome.

If we're talking quirky Jap games, I'd take Ouenden/EBA, Rhythm Paradise, Professor Layton and Trauma Centre over them.
