The Isuzu 1.8L they stuffed into the Chevrolet L.U.V. truck. Both variants. They were hideous engines in comparison to thier Toyota and Datsun counterparts.
The Chevrolet 305 V-8 (which is what is currently under the bonnet of my truck). It gets worse fuel mileage, has MUCH less power, and is more expensive to maintain than its bigger brother - the venerable 350. They were a completely miserable failure in the 80's Camaros.
The Oldsmobile 260 V8. A miserable attempt by GM to make an economical engine for thier larger cars. It failed in every department by a HUGE margin.
The Mitsubishi 2.6L 4 cyl that Chrysler used in various FWD cars. Horrible little engine that sounded like an unmuffled Deisel with a loose crankshaft.
The Ford 2.8 (and the later EFI 2.9) V-6. Nasty, nasty engines to work on (and they needed worked on CONSTANTLY). Not bad in the power department, but there are certainly better out there. The carby version (2.8) generally suffered from over-emission-equipmentitis. It was smothered and strangled by every type of emissions crap you can imagine. The EFI version (2.9) was a bastardised abortion that should have NEVER left the engineer's design desk.
