Best monitor for that price- simple as.

The next step up in quality is to go for an IPS or 120Hz TN0- depending on what you prioritise, and these cost considerably more.

Dell U2311H can be had for only a little bit more than the Samsung, what with the deal they've got going at the moment. Via a certain cashback site, it's on a par with Samsung cost wise, and it's an IPS panel.

I agreed with the comments earlier today but am now ditching the idea of the 2450 in favour of the slimmer Samsung LED models....

P2450H ~ 170

XL2370 ~ 190

PX2370 ~ 250

I don't think I can justify the cost of the PX2370 ... Anyone have any reservations ?

As far as I know the PX is close to the XL in performance, so why it costs that much more I can't understand...?

But does the XL2370 beat the P2450H in performance?
If it does the only drawback is it is 1 inch smaller hmm.

The XL2370 handles colours a bit better and offers slightly better contrast. It is one of the best TN panels I've ever used and is an absolute steal for the price you've listed.

Indeed this is it. Some reviews favour the XL2370 over the P2450H but the killer for me is that there are no VESA mounting holes on the XL

Think I've found it

XL2370HD Basically it's an XL2370 except with a built in TV tuner.

2ms response rate is dropped to 5ms and you get the VESA mount

~ 230 though

(edit : @PCM2 Your expert opinion on the XL2370HD if you've had the chance to look at it ?)

Samsung SyncMaster BX2450 is also a monitor that is in the same price range and looks almost the smae but has a different stand. I think it looks a bit better but I guess that is just my personal preferance. I don't know how it compares image quality wise to this screen but its worth looking finding out.

No I'm afraid not. I don't think it's worth the extra over an XL2370 at the moment, even if the performance is on par. This is especially true if you're looking just looking at the integrated speakers and not the TV tuner aspect. Think of what a nice set of speakers you could get for £70. The VESA mounting is also attractive, but you can get VESA-mountable ViewSonics with built in speakers and very good image quality for a fraction of that cost. I realise you've had good experiences with Samsung - overall they are one of my favourite monitor manufacturers. The problem is that very few of their monitors support VESA mounting.

If you really do like everything about the XL2370HD and can assume similar performance to the XL2370 with the built in speakers and VESA mount you are after then go for it and let me know how it is :D. Samsung don't have any in their labs for testing at the moment. They've got some B2330HDs, PX2370s and one of those mega Eyefinity monitors.

Oh... Don't be disappointed. Is that £217 you'll be paying in the end then? That's a much better price than what I was thinking (£250+). I was heartily recommending the XL2370 when it still cost £280 - that's how good I felt it was at the time. And don't worry about the response time. The quoted response times are absolute best-case scenario and the average responsiveness is likely to be similar on both panels. The eye is only receptive to transitions >7ms anyway so you needn't worry.

Yes £217 inc... Looking forward to the new monitor :)

If it really is an XL2370 with those extra features then you're gonna love it. Do let me know how you find it when it arrives. :)

Hmmmmmmmm..... It's TOO bright ! Argh .... I've had to switch to standing mode + brightness at around 30.

Not too happy at the moment... I'm used to glossed displays like the x black / mac screens / laptop screens so it's taking time to re-adjust

I'm going to compare the colours with my laptop and tune that way.

One thing I'm  about is that it's a 1080p screen 1920x1080 and it just doesn't feel as big as I wanted it to be.

Maybe this one is faulty ?
