YouTube AI content?

Seeing a lot of vids in my suggested feed, which are basically just a short story, written by AI, narrated by an AI voice, with stock images like, 'man walks in woods', 'woman laughs with child'.

The stories are fairly mundane, e.g. 'Man rescues kitten from river, live happily ever after.' Sometimes slightly more complex, or more difficult subject matter, like 'Woman gets cancer diagnosis, has treatment, recovers.' But ultimately an utter waste of time to watch any of them. Formulaic, dull, and defo not created by humans.

Really not sure why these are being created and fed to me by The YT Algorithm. It's just curious that these things are being made and they're just so mundane and weird, frankly.

Just, why, really?

I've not seen any like that, but I sometimes get AI generated 'factual' videos about something like a particular technology or scientific discovery etc, presumably because I do watch some non-AI videos on those topics.

Must be a great low effort enterprise for the originator once they work out how to get their videos recommended, and YouTube presumably benefits through enough people watching our engaging with the videos that it's worth serving them as recommendations.

For a lot of popular categories (eg '10 things you missed in THIS film' etc) AI can probably do a better job than most human creators so I expect this will just become a fact of life on most content platforms.

Kinda shows what type of stuff you normally search on YT doesn't it? If that's boring and mundane you must be searching for boring and mundane stuff.

That being said YT is pushing a lot of cancer videos at people recently and they are not even searching for anything related.

there's loads of channels that must be AI spam

I think the algorithm is cracking down on them now though, and it's harder for them to gain any traction

I'm getting the same on FB, but it's all family based drama stories. It's annoying, but some of them are quite interesting - i've caught myself watching a few over my lunch break!

Google search gives results of websites that are what i'd consider spam. Sites that have overly long paragraphs repeating information and sometimes even just avoiding talking about the subject at hand.

If Youtube is headed in the same direction as these sites then it'll be a sad day, and ultimately the death of it for many users. The quality of YT had improved from its initial release, then just sidestepped in quality, and the past few years it has stepped backwards in quality massively.

If the AI videos gain constant and unique user views they'll be here to stay.

you can immediately triage junk - if not obvious from author, just start playing in the middle at an arbitrary point - if it's such a narration - just bin it before they get any monetization

There is going to be so much more... but it hopefully will settle down and highlight the better content on there more. Or people will lap it up and that's what people want. Either way

Paul Brand on ITV news is doing quite well for AI. The technology really has moved on fast, as he looks fairly life like, although still slightly robotic in keeping with what you would expect.

Until the AI sounds more natural I skip past these.
Its the robotic vocal track that irks me.

It'll be better in time. But right now? Pass.

I'm getting a lot of ai generated content offered it's suddenly started.. I wonder if it youtube trying to oust real people so they can keep all the ad money? I don't interact or watch them but I'm probably getting 25% of all offered content as ai generated

I just **** post all over them....

I hope 99% of the replies are AI too because i cannot believe people are so braindead.

you can search a question and google will prioritize answers based on website content.

some of it can be nothing to do with what you searched for or just plain wrong with 0 fact checking,

google doesnt care about truth.

"AI" aka the algorithms that have been around for decades. is like a lazy human being putting together any old crap with no one checking the content its generating....

It might be orth going into your YT history and deleting all the videos you think are AI generated and/or content you're not interested in which should reduce the amount of this content offered to you.
