YouTube bans comments on all videos containing anyone under the age of 18.

The issue is not any particular policy or whether people want to share funny videos of their kids, but that paedophiles now feel secure enough to congregate and socialise on public websites.

I honestly cant believe GD sometimes. Some of you are absolute hypocrites.

YouTube have actually taken steps to tackle a problem and some are crying about free speech on a platform where comments are known to be an absolute cess pitt regardless of the video.

Did they do it because of money? Yeh no ****, now tell me something I didn't know about capatalism.

What do you expect them to do, while keeping to your rigid idea of a free market? A truly free market after all allows such things do they not?

To be honest Youtube has turned to absolute rubbish over the last couple of years, it's a shadow of it's former self. Banning youtubers for wrongthink, massive left leaning bias and burying of most videos that have a right, center-right or even center, leaning element. Time for a new media site to fill the gap that Youtube has vacated, they killed it for ideology - we don't have free speech anymore.

Got a spare $10B ?

I have to ask. What is it you think I said?

That you’re taking the mick out of YouTube for harbouring pedos?

To be fair, I can certainly see how it was a general statement, but still. There’s too many conspiracy weirdos out there that think google/alphabet is involved in all manner of baseless nonsense, I’m finding it difficult to see beyond the mundane trolling, genuine mental illness and genuine criticism.

I'm not. Policing the comments of a userbase as large as YouTube is not possible to do short of mass-automation. My criticism is of a society in which paedophiles feel comfortable being semi-open on public forums and publicly eroticising innocent videos of children. I'm not in favour of The Sun-style mobs of people burning down the homes of paediatricians, but what kind of society lets this sort of behaviour pass? There are open paedophile groups on Twitter who actually attack people for condemning it.

he rightfully did so, youtube (&fb) aspire to high moral principles, which are evidently flawed, and require legislation by another party.

what was the general statement you refer to, and the google conspiracy nonsense ? (the google employee #metoo issues did desesrve attention)

The same society that has a billion people ignore their spiritual leaders fondling their kids and largely doing nothing about it. (Though to be fair, all of them do it...)

The fact is children have only recently been granted any protection at all in the last 200-300 years, it’s sadly something that’s going to take awhile to fully root out.

It would certainly help if the likes of government and establishment figures wouldn’t hide/ignore their obviously paedophilic ‘friends’ from justice. Change is best served from the top down as long as it’s benevolent, otherwise the bottom up approach seeps in with inherently flawed ideas.

Using the logic some people in this thread have, they should be allowed to air their views becuase it's against their human rights if you stop them.
