Youtube, Gmail down

Yup, downdetector.com reporting massive spike in issues in the last few minutes.

Its broke . Cant access hangouts, gmail or youtube.
 
It's the end of civilisation.

Kinda expected 2020 to go out with a bang considering all the other events this year.
 
Someone's bottom is going to get spanked for this, having installed edge networking equipment for them before, I know that their SAL is ludicrous, it used to be nine nines availability (contracted circa 2010), but I expect it's even higher now

/EDIT Just checked and the DWDM kit I installed is still working just fine, phew :p

I don't even understand that sort of SLA for public, free services like Gmail. If you want something super-reliable you should really be hosting or paying for it.

I always laugh at the people raging and frothing when stuff like this has a blip.

Now how about a nice long outage for Twitter, Facebook etc... the average IQ should increase a few points in short order.
 
Youtube is working for me on an Incognito tab so it seems to be if you are signed in. Guess that is why it is affecting everything as it could be a user authentication issue.

Whilst parts of their service are "free" the vast income they make behind the scenes services (oc48 traffic, *cough* global dns*cough* etc..) this outage will be costing them many millions
