I watched that with a few work mates and found it to be totaly un realistic. Love the idea but needs one hell of a lot of refinement

Have you actually tried it though?

While the movements might seem unrealistic to an observer, they probably need to be so exaggerated to get the same level of geforce/inertia as you would in a real formula one car. It's not so much the movement that is important, but the feeling of inertia/geforce.

True enough, also its a F1 car not a nissan micra. G force on that will be like rollercoaster and not familar to a normal person.
People complain if I test the ABS on a car even after I warn them first, thats not even close to as extreme as F1 or a rally car, etc
Those things need 6 point harness with good reason, it can take the wind out of you just from braking. In fact that simulator isnt extreme enough :p

Think the sensitivity is set a bit high on this!

The degree of movement appears unrealistic from outside the simulator because of the different frame of reference.

If you're using it rather than watching it from outside, you're looking at the monitor. Since the monitor has a fixed position relative to the seat, the person using it does not see a great deal of movement. The point of the movement is to use gravity to partially simulate the forces a driver would experience if the in-game car was real. So, for example, if you're doing maximum acceleration in an F1 car in the game, the simulator tilts back as much as possible so you're pushed backwards into your seat as you would be under such strong acceleration. In fact, the simulator doesn't move enough, although even if it had full 360 degree movement in every axis it would still be limited to 1g in any direction. Since F1 drivers can experience as much as 5g sideways, that's just nowhere near enough.

Don't know if you guys are aware, but we've been having a bit of trouble with the rain down here in Australia recently (yes, I know that sounds unlikely  ).

Queensland has been swamped by floodwater which now covers an area larger than France and Germany combined. Damage is been estimated at $6 billion; cleanup costs will be ~$5 billion; ~200,000 people have been affected, ~10,000 people evacuated from their homes, and ~15 have died. The flooding started during Christmas and is still going strong.

Here's some footage from Toowoomba, which is not even the worst affected town:
