I wonder what the battery life is. There's some serious potential here for search & rescue provided it can actually cover reasonable ground between charges.

Bloody impressive though, that's for sure.

Fantastic, thanks. This is absolutely perfect for what I intend to use it for :)

The full monty ~250K lumens setup is drawing a constant 1.8KW. That's a serious amount to be pulling out of a battery in a drone. He states in the video that the payload for the drone is 40lbs and that was the weight of the lighting system, so there's no wiggle room there. That seems to be about the limit for drones easily available at retails and flight time on a charge when loaded is in the region of 15 minutes...and that's without the hefty extra 1.8KW power draw for the lights.

But there are bigger drones with higher capacity batteries and a larger lifting capacity (to carry the lighting setup and more batteries). And a much larger price.

On a lighter note, 10 minutes of flight time would be enough for at least a few people to see a UFO. Very bright light in the sky, moving in a way completely unlike a plane - UFO! Aliens!

I remember Bod. :D

Bod, with the milkshake drinking frog. Drugs must have been so much purer back then :D

not as trippy now as Jamie and the magic torch.

Trivia time: Bernard Sumner, of Joy Division and New Order, was an animator on this. He's listed in the credits as Bernard Dicken (his adopted surname until he changed it back to Sumner.)
