*** Youtube/Video thread ***

Youtube deleted his channel for "hate speech"...for a gameplay video killing an NPC who was engaging in hate speech. Not for killing other NPCs engaging in hate speech, of course, only the one who was engaging in currently fashionable hate speech. Nor for killing random NPCs, or the police NPCs, or all the other violence possible in RDR2. Only for killing the whitist...oh no, wait, that was the fashionable irrational prejudice in the USA decades ago. No doubt Youtube would have been using that basis for selecting which videos to ban if they had been around then, since they're all about pandering to fashionable prejudices.

He was lucky enough to have enough media clout to get the channel reinstated. Had it not been for a deluge of complaints to Youtube, he'd have been quietly silenced.

Yeah I saw the news story about gamers killing feminists in the game and then the follow up about the BBC having made some complaints to youtube and one guy getting his channel taken down and others getting videos banned etc... it isn't actually the guy I linked to though it is this guy - his video is back up but now has an age restriction - he feeds the feminist to the pigs:

It seems that now he's got his channel back he's doubled down and decided to make another video where he "deports a Mexican":

It does seem ridiculous, gamers have been fighting/killing NPCs in video games pretty much since the earliest video games, apparently filming themselves killing an NPC with a particular identity is bad?

Real life NPC''s get hurt when you kill them in games, they all connected by a hive mind.

He also has an earlier video where he hogties a whitist, takes him to a cliff, stabs him and punches him off the cliff. Of course, the people complaining about "hate speech" have no objections to that because while it's the same sort of irrational prejudice as feminism and the NPC in the game is no more irrationally prejudiced than the feminist NPC, it's not a strain of irrational prejudice they agree with and the media hasn't said anything about it because whitism isn't currently fashionable irrational prejudice and feminism is.

The game itself depicts the two very differently - you can murder the whitist right in front of the police with no repercussions.

Hold your Gamergate horses and use your heads. From YouTube's policies:

Hate speech refers to content that promotes violence against or has the primary purpose of inciting hatred against individuals or groups based on certain attributes, such as:

  • race or ethnic origin
  • religion
  • disability
  • gender
  • age
  • veteran status
  • sexual orientation/gender identity
There is a fine line between what is and what is not considered to be hate speech.

What happened is quite simple really. A YouTube content moderator interpreted the video as promotion of violence against women (gender). This interpretation is debatable and probably wrong so someone higher up corrected the mistake. This latest decision can change again at any time, it's their policy and they decide how and when to apply it and if you don't like it feel free to use another platform.

Do you need a tissue for your 'free speech is in danger' tears?

Why would the BBC make a complaint to YT about hate speech on YT?

I didn't think the BBC's remit was to police other content channels?

Anyone can complain just press the Report button...
The BBC itself reports that "The BBC reported 10 videos to YT which contained violence against suffragette characters..."

So BBC employees are spending time (and our money) policing content on other platforms. To fruther their own "liberal" agenda no doubt.

Frankly, the BBC is becoming a complete waste of money, and a disgrace.

How do you the BBC or its employees reported the videos?
