There's an umbrella name for the genre of modern music reframed in a medieval setting - bardcore. It's quite popular, with quality ranging from very bad to very good. The instrumental ones are easier. One of the pitfalls is getting old language wrong.

This is my favourite - Pumped Up Kicks with music and vocals period correct for ~1000 years ago. Sung in correct late Old English and with music played on period correct instruments. Quality.

This musician is top quality for instrumental bardcore. Here's Toxicity on a variety of replicas of instruments that existed in the medieval period:

This one caught my eye...how do you play Du Hast as an instrumental on medieval instruments? This is how:

I was surprised at how old the hurdy-gurdy is. I thought it was more recent, so of course I checked. Nope. It's definitely medieval. It fell out of fashion for centuries and had a bit of a revival more recently, which was why I thought it was a more recent invention.

Bards...RPGs...Skyrim. Bethesda dropped the ball on that one. My guess is that they hired voice actors for the bards in the taverns. They should have hired singers. Like this one. Who they did hire for Elder Scrolls Online.

Norwegian politics is (sadly) very strange. Routinely planning for decades, even centuries, into the future. Not just winning the next election. Routinely planning for prosperity for as many citizens as possible, not as few citizens as possible like most countries-businesses do. A deliberate attempt to ensure a large proportion of communal ownership of key industries and infrastructure. Norway is ludicrously rich for its size and population. Part of that is lucky geography and resources, but unlike almost everywhere with those advantages Norway has been properly managed by its governments over the last few centuries. This video's labelling is wrong. It's not a glitch. It's deliberate planning. It's good government. It's skill-based, not exploiting a glitch.

Oh yes, that would be a great place to move, imagine a government thinking about the people. Over here in the US government is controlled by $$. Republicans mostly.

If only Harald Hardrada had won in 1066, how things might have been under Viking rule instead of Norman
