Howdy,

I got a Z-5500 system back when they were 1st released. Upto today they have been fine, but all I get is a bassy sound from them. Plug in some headphones and all is good.

Doing some research I find that some older ones were affected by the pop and click problem. I used to think that the click was from my neighbours switching on their light (sounds like a switch clicking). But since I moved to a detached house I still hear the click. I also get the occasional sub bang.

I phone up Logitech support and the guy was very helpfull, but as I don't have a PID number, the log has been escalated. The only number I have is 0435R and he was after something like R636. So could it be that I have a very early edition, and their numbering changed?

TBH I love the system and could do with a replacement, as it looks like I do indeed have a duff unit. Never has it been used to high power.

Anyone else had a replacement or do you have a numbering similar to mine ie pre RXXX?

Ta.

i got mine replaced a few months back as the popping drove me crazy and the unit eventually died altogether, they were even out of warranty :p

mine had a PID number however, not that it should make a difference if you have the same symptoms just complain louder ;)

i had those sub bangs also, scared the living **** out of me to be honest ...i think the last one actually killed the unit.

Well I got an update. Press Input and Settings while it is in standby and you will see the firmware.

I have 2.0.4, incidentally it also resets the whole lot.

Mine are working again :-)

Edit: Mine does more clicking rather than banging. When it does bang it is really soft.

When they replaced it did they just send you a new unit, or do a swap out?

Might contact them about this too, it's highly annoying. Mine are 3 years old now though, so I'm not sure what they will do.

The S/N should be on the back of the sub somewhere.

Mine were replaced over a year ago for the pop/clicking problem. The new unit never totally eliminated the pop when the fridge compressor starts, but are significantly better than the originals.

My firmware is v2.0.9 and the PID is on the control unit, underneath the inputs.
