Last year I had my rig overclocked to just over 4ghz. I realise I have the non Z CPU and it's not meant to be overclockable. However for those unaware with Z1** and Z2** motherboard and particular bios made this possible.

What I cant understand is why l I can't anymore.

I followed a few guides online but the clock speed in bios or Windows doesn't change.

Any help appreciated

Made an account just to reply here. I had an i5 6400 last year that I was able to overclock to 4.8ghz, this was on Z170 using BCLK to overclock. I did a ton of research on it and as far as I know, Z170 is the only possible way to overclock non K CPU's. For most boards you had to find the specific bios, which was typically the very first bios that they shipped with or a modded bios available through https://play3r.net/news/overclock/o...now-be-overclocked-on-z170-bios-files-inside/ or just google and you can find the list of bios that work. I dont think this is possible on Z270.
