z490 motherboards up at overclokers preorder?

Apex!..why did you have to look at Apex?

The one board in every range which is definitely not aimed at people who want value for money.

Apex is the motherboard equivalent of those cars which manufacturers charge more for after they've removed the radio and carpets

It's what I have now (z390 apex) I was itching to upgrade to newer toys to play with. Mobo prices at the high end jumped the shark this generation sadly.

^^ cpu lanes only and limited at best. Been reading that 5.4ghz all core i10 score was at the limit of the cppu - and pulling 350w (all 16 phases) . Thats a s**** ton of heat to get rid of

which makes the reported temps in the leaked slides look fishy (min - 0) (max - 62) either the cpu is a beast keeping it's self cool at 5.4ghz or exotic cooling was used, no way a aio can cool below ambient (0) unless the rad is submerged in ice water maybe?

Or, as I suggested before, the software might be reading wrong, with an offset, due to it not being updated for the new platform yet. This is a common occurrence. I've had CPUs reading below ambient during early testing, I've also had them reading 120C+.

Either way, we dont know where on the silicon lottery scale this CPU lies. We saw everything from 4.8 to 5.6 when testing 9900K.

I may have missed it, but when are the boards actually due in stock? I've seen 13th May (Wednesday next week) and 20th May mentioned on some sites, and when will the 10th Gen CPUs be listed and will they be expected in stock on the same date?

Looks like two of the Gigabyte Z490 models are in-stock at OcUK today!

people have started buying the itx mobo, i wouldn't buy anything unless i saw the cpu reviews first, if the leaks are true people who buy now may be very disappointed come review day, and if they buy the chips i can only hope for their sake's they invest heavily in beefy cooling :)

I've gone for a Gigabyte Z490I ITX board, although will be pretty gutted if it turns up tomorrow and the CPUs aren't out until next week :p

Currently mulling over either an i5-10600 or i7-10700 - not intending to OC and the lower TDP caps might help a bit with temps in a smaller case.

i can only hope for your sake the lower tdp chips can run at that and also run cooler, the 10900k leak showed the 125w tdp pulling 235w at 4.8ghz all core which is horrible, god knows what temps will be like in a itx system, sure the no k's should run a bit better but we don't know that yet.

reviews for the 10th gen are out around the 20th so a week or so later they should hit the shelves to buy

People have the i9-9900k running in similar sized ITX systems as what I'm planning so I'm not too concerned about putting up to an 8C/16T part into it, i.e the i7-10700.

I would be surprised if the CPUs don't go up for pre-order this week with stock due next week in line with the reviews, otherwise there is no point to some of the boards being in stock this week with the rest advertising release dates of the 20th of May if there's nothing to plug into them next week!
