Hi there, I have a spare set of Z5500s knocking around, would it be possible to do something crazy and utilise the second set without having an additional soundcard? ie could I do something like connect all the speakers and woofer to an amp and then put the pc jacks into that or something?

i have my spare set conected to my xfi via "flexi jack" coax.

Lots of bass is fun :) Surprised they work at the same time too.

Well, not very... I got them free! Friend had to cut off the plugs to his set to send in for a warranty replacement, so I said I'd take them in case I could repair.

Some soldering and fiddling around later, free set of £200 speakers :)

Will maybe do this when I upgrade soundcard, for now I've put them in the living room connected to the dvd. Parents were very impressed by DTS.

BTW, does anyone know how I should connect the standard telly to them, I think its only got L and R phono plugs, these need to be converted to a 3 jack set?

You can do phonos to one stereo 3.5mm jack and then use the pro logic II processor in the z5500's to upmix the 2.1 signal to 5.1. Its the only way you can get surround from a tv signal as far as I a aware.
