Z68 Extreme4 Gen3

Hi guys,

Just installed the system in my signature and the system is hanging on bios splash screen. After say a minute or two, it boots into windows and the system is behaving as normal.

No real errors on the motherboard during the process, just pretty slow. Any ideas would be appreciated as I have checked everything.

Cheers

Your SSD drive will come in IDE mode. Go into Bios and enable ACHI mode and then attach and install OS on the SSD.
What other settings are you using in Bios ?

Try disabling the splash screen in Bios. Mine shows for a few secs after updates, but nothing like your saying... Normal boot time is probs around 4 secs i would say ?

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
or Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
either of these should fit with that cooler.

You should be fine with that ram. I am using a Titan Fenrir Evo, which is probably as big and i had no problems. Also your case is 229mm wide so there should not be any problems there either, as the cooler is approx 166mm in height...

How would this board preform with the ram I am using now, just picked up a i7 2600k ..so now hunting a motherboard. (ram in sig)

Edit: I would just use 3x2GB sticks (will buy new ram at a later date - once I have flogged the other 6gb)

Miss read sorry. The board would run fine using 2x2gb sticks, are you looking at overclocking ?

The i5 is what people use for gaming. The i7 is better for multi-threading, but you don't need the i7 for gaming.
As for the ram, you might be better to sell it as a job lot.
What are you using your pc for?
