Z68 Motherboard RAID level 1....

I have two spare 1Gig drives available and want to set them up in RAID 1 from my motherboard - as per sig - Z68 and Marvel. This will be for my data, not my apps or boot.

Is this HW or SW Raid? What channels should I put the drives on? Separate controllers or same or does not matter?

Appreciate you thoughts. Any do's and dont's?

Personally I wouldn't bother with RAID1, it's slower than a single drive plus it only offers redundancy rather than a proper backup.

A better option is to use one drive internally, put the other in an external caddy and sync regularly from the internal one to the external one.
