z97 DC vs Haswell-E X99

Ok in short ill be gaming,

But i am getting sick of chasing platforms, i've had 1155 + 1150.

I'm hooping x99 will replicate the longevity seen by its younger brother, the x79.

In terms of IPC performance, is Haswell-E expected to be on par/beat Devils canyon?.

I mainly game but love overkill.

on a side note ( wrong section but heck). I planning on doing my first custom Water cool. with 2x 560mm radiators. What case would accommodate this.?
 
If you love overkill then you must get Haswell-E. Devil's Canyon will be about the same as standard Haswell, except better TIM under the heatspreader and a 100MHz default clock boost. Haswell-E gets twice the number of cores, and the headspreader is soldered on top. None of that useless integrated graphics on-chip either.

The CaseLabs Magnum SMA8 will accommodate your rads.

Emm,what was forcing your to upgrade your CPU many times??

There are people who are still using overclocked SB socket 1155 Core i5/Core i7 CPUs with GTX780 and R9 290 based cards,which means they have had potentially over three years of usage already,and I don't see why they cannot get more life out of them still.

You could simply just keep your current CPU longer,especially with things like DX12 on the horizon,which should mean Core i7 CPUs will be bettered utilised.

Intel TAKE NOTE AND STOP RIPPING PEOPLE OFF AND RELEASE A 6GHZ 16 CORE ALREADY.

Like 2 or 3 top end graphics cards otherwise you would be better spending all the extra money on Haswell-E on gfx. Assuming you intend to use it primarily for gaming.

haswell E will be soldered. Its only the ib z77 and hw z87 chips that use TIM. DC is supposed to use an improved paste and better ihs assembly.
 
How much can we expect it will cost for a Haswell-E + a decent motherboard for it and the memory?

Will existing PSUs work with it or would it require a new type of PSU?

I am fairly certain that ATX isn't going anywhere anytime soon. By that I mean the PSU standard but I suppose the motherboard spec as well.
