Y'all,

Purchased enough kit from OcUK yesterday to build 5 PC's for work (Gigabyte MB, Q6600, etc).
We needed to make the machines as quiet as possible as they are going under user's desks.
Decided on Zalman coolers as these will all run at stock as we need 100% reliability etc.
Unfortunately I accidentally ordered CNPS9500 AM2 coolers - D'oh!!
I've found a local supplier who has the CNPS9500 LED in stock.
On Zalman's site these are listed as fine for all Core2Duo CPU's but don't mention Core2Quad.
I know physically they will fit OK - just want to make sure they should be able to do the job with regards actually keeping a Q6600 cool at stock?
What about the CNPS8000? - Zalman's site says the same again, fine for Core2Duo, just doesn't mention Core2Quad.

I've just got a 8700 for a quad, will know tonight how good it is/not :D

If you want quite and good performance and are in standard size cases then the Noctua NH-U12F would be nice and quiet but good performance. Same size as the Tuniq Tower. I've only mentioned those two because they are around your price range and are quiet but good performers.

Cheers for that I'll look into them.
We've fitted stock coolers for the time being and nobody has complained about the noise from them, so it could be they will do the job fine.
It's just nice to know of some alternatives if needed.

i've bought a Zalman 9500 before the price drops..... and now holding off on q6600, because im worried that the 9500 isn't powerful enough. :(

hope to hear the answer as well

Well I rang and asked citylink to deliver with a neighbour if I wasn't in, but they didn't and they didn't drop a card through my letterbox either :( Not real impressed tonight.
