Zalman VF900-Cu owners views

I have my XTX running at 680 core and 800 on the ram.
I have not changed any voltages. Will your card not do the same at stock voltages?

Is you card an XTX or flashed XT?

Could the voltage increase be the source of your temp issues?

Matt

Its an XTX and yes the extra volts are the cause of the extra heat.. Without it the temp tend to hover around 80-89C with 1.500v+ it can jump to 100+.

Its better then the stock cooler sure but if your buying it with a hope off overclocking then you will be very disappointed.

This is overclocked btw, I run the card at 700/850. 1.450V. It hasnt helped me overclock any better at all, just less noise.

I've just fitted one to my 7800GT with the bios volt mod to 1.5v core 36/37C idle and 46C full load 470/1200 with the fan nearly at full speed (2000rpm).
My stock cooler temperatures were 44C Idle and 58C Full load with fan on 100%

So can the X1900XTX owners confirm that these are quieter than the stock hsf?

Not looking to overclock, just want to keep it quiet :p

Yes much quieter than stock. Infact inaudiable if your case is on the floor 2 meters away.

Matt

Awesome cooler - fitted it to a HIS X1900XT-X.

Virtually inaudible, even on highest fan speed. Took about 2 mins to fit.

Card is @ stock - idle 39c, load 65c - very impressed.
I had the VF700Cu on a 7800GT, and that was awesome too.

What about the hot air that is no longer expelled out of the case? When I feel the air out under the VGA ports it's quite warm. Won't the Zalman just re-circulate the hot air around itself? I hope Zalman plan to release a version that takes advantage of the existing blowhole on the second blanking plate. CPU, NB & SB, memory and the heatsink near CPU will be hotter otherwise

If you don't a rear case fan already, then it would be recommended. You really need a 80mm intake and outake fan in a decent system. Run them on 5v/7v and it's v.quiet :)

Definately an improvement over the stock jobby, sounded like a cordless vacuum cleaner! could even hear a droning noise when the fan was on low.

dont know the temps before but currently oc'd and 35c idle around 73c load thats with the fan on a medium-ish setting, only downside maybe is a degree or 3 rise in case temps.

Couple of dodgy pics for those interested.
