So my zanussi combination microwave/oven/grill thing has failed. Well the microwave part of it. I got it from wren kitchens last July and have had it repaired once under warranty. When the engineer replaced the power board previously he advised he'd replaces a number of them on the zanussi combi and microwave units. Unfortunately last night the microwave wasn't working with an f0134 error. Tried turning it off and back on but can't get the microwave to power for more than 3 seconds.

Phoned zanussi today who said they won't cover the cost of the repair man to come out and fix it but will cover parts this was after a lengthy hold where the guy said he needed to speak to his supervisor after initially just flatly saying it was out of warranty. Do I have any rights to push to get it repaired for free, especially considering the failure previously and what the engineer previously told me?

Thanks

SoliD

A number of years ago I worked in the white goods sector, typically after the initial warranty period has expired then the cost of parts will probably be covered but not the cost of labour.

F134 Reference voltage of the analog digtial
converter is out of range
Check Powerboard

Does sound like similar issues, are you handy with a screw driver

How about learning to cook properly rather than eating microwave meals every night. No wonder it broke!

:rolleyes:

When our Neff combi broke (magnetron burned out) outside the warranty period, Neff offered to pay half of the cost of the repair. Substantially cheaper than replacing the whole unit. They also offered to extend the warranty by 2 years. I would be on the phone to customer services to see about a goodwill contribution. That could be the cost of the entire repair if it’s a recurring theme.

'Warranty' is in addition to your consumer rights and in this case consumer law has your back. It's up to wren kitchens to repair or replace for at least 2 years after purchase and up to 6 years.

Note: consumer law puts the liability on the person that sold it to you i.e. Wren as that is who your contract is with. Go and speak to Wren.

Cheers this is the sort of thing I was after. Will give them a call Monday.

Thanks. Used a buy now pay later 0% thing that was paid off earlier in the year..deposit paid on credit card too. Will contact them and see how I get on.

Zanussi seem to have acknowledged it is a common failure, and your fitter, which should support a claim that product out of factory has a design defect;
and then justify why wren should pay for repair/product-return.

can you get something more concrete from zanussi or fitter ? an email from them would be gold dust.
there do not seem to be any good white goods forums, but maybe post model name in case others on oc have it ?

Nonetheless would Zanussi ship you the part for a home repair ? could be the pragmmatic solution although could fail again.

Will be sending Wren an email with the consumer rights act bits in. Will await their response.

Got a bit of time now as the Microwave function is currently working. This is similar to when it happened before where one day it would work and the next for short periods then not at all.

@SoliD

Microwaves have 3 micro switches on the door mechanism, if one is incorrectly open or closed with the door shut you will either get no power to the high side (transformer, diode and magnetron) or board goes bang.

As this is now working i'm guessing no power to high side, if i was part ordering on this i'd be looking at changing the micro switches and locking mechanism.

Can you post a video for me of when it misbehaves as I do have one other thought.

Has the oven/grill side of it worked okay all the time?

Works for 1/2 seconds then resets. Shows as 2 bars of heat at all times when microwave is active no matter how hot/cold the oven is.

Oven/grill has been absolutely fine throughout.

Zanussi customer service is truly shocking!

I have one of their fridges that started going rusty at the bottom of the door after 6 months and they just weren't interested. Said my kitchen must be very damp. Funny that neither my washing machine or 15 year old cooker have any rust on them.

Poor product and poor customer service. I'll never buy zanussi again.
