Bigger box!
A bit over a year (or two maybe??) ago I replayed FFVII and posted a ton of screenies on here as I made my way through it again. Thread was very popular and it was a nice little community thing for everyone to get a bit nostalgic about...

I quite fancy doing the same again and was trying to pick a classic and popular game to do it with.
I did intend to try the Occarina of Time as it has a 10/10 IGN rating and was voted one of the top ten games of all time by these boards a few years back, but thinking about it, I've never played a Zelda game at all.

So, shall I just crack on with OOT, or is it worth starting from the first game on the NES?
I've got (read: my daughter has) a Wii too, so I can just jump straight into one of the more contemporary games if they're better? (Although I wouldn't be able to do the whole posting screenies as I go thing).

Advise please Zelda fans :)

The best game is Ocarina of Time by quite a way, but it does look dated. Windwaker would be up there if it wasn't for that infernal treasure hunt at the end.

Links Awakening is the second best IMO.

Personally, I'd love to see you play them all! Starting from the NES. I've never played the first 2 Zelda's as I started on LTTP.

Would make a nice read.

I'm doing similar actually. :)

I've not got a copy of The Legend of Zelda (because it's a bugger to get hold of for a reasonable price), and I didn't fancy The Adventure of Link (my least favourite of them).

I've been replaying A Link to the Past the last few weeks and actually finished it today. Absolutely worth playing. :)

Just had a brief play with OoT after finishing that, and while the graphics haven't aged as gracefully as some of the other games, I still got right back into enjoying it. :p

Once OoT is finished, I'll be moving on to Majora's Mask, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. Hopefully Skyward Sword will be out by then. :D

I've never been able to finish a lot of zelda games, my first was links awakening dx and more recently LTTP. I've got all of the games except the original nes ones I would love to sit down and actually complete them, I hope when OTT comes out for the 3DS I'll finish it. I've probably tried 3 times always got a few dungeons in after getting the master sword then give up.

I got quite far in the wind waker aswell it's a shame really, I've never played MM but brought it earlier this month.

hmm now I didn't have an N64 so haven't completed OOT yet but A Link To The Past on SNES is easily in my top 5 games of all time.

Hi all,

hate to throw a spanner in the works but OOT is NOT the best Zelda game, Link to the past on the snes is hands down the best one, by a mile.

Yes OOT gave us 3D a horse and loads of other cool things, but for pure fun Link to the past is the best, even the last boss is better in Link to the past.

I concur with this statement whole heartedly.

My advice would be to play them all in order! That said, you could ignore Zelda 2 (as it's rubbish) and some of the latter GB\GBA titles (as they're third party and lacked a certain something for me).

Yep it's superb. It was my introduction to Zelda, and I've probably played it through a dozen times, including recently. :) That's the only reason I'm not doing it. :p

Twas easily the best handheld game of the 1990s and every bit as good as Link to the Past.

Never a truer word spoken.

Windwaker is the best hands down. Truly brilliant game! But takes ages travelling the sea to find the treasure. Apart from that, love it!

I shall be playing it tonight.

I actually fired WW up the other day on the kids old CRT, and I had totally forgotten just how good that game actually looked!

Only Zelda game I've ever played was Sands of Time on the DS. Loved that game, played it for about 45mins/1 hour at a time, mostly in bed :)
