Hopefully it won’t be too long before they release to diy. I’ve been wanting something like that for a while.

I don't trust what they say. You could be in a very long waiting list. Could be end of this year or maybe next year

Interesting that they're not using the chiplets but are printing the apu in one lump.

Plenty of confidence from printing millions of chiplets and reusing their old gpu I guess.

This is not the case, they are based on the mobile parts which are monolithic, you wouldn't put a chiplet based CPU in a laptop due to high power draw from the I/O, both that, and integrating a GPU is much easier with a monolithic die, so they reuse this for desktop parts as APU's aren't designed to be super high power, but put in a box that sits on a desk in an office etc.

The 8c/16t APU would make a nice mini desktop, hopefully it can drive two screens up to 4k 60hz for productivity, not gaming

Definitely mini pc 5700G would good enough for office work and non gaming.

Would have been ideal if it came to market a few months ago, people are begging for decent APU's atm.

Yeah I agree as many gpu graphic card are overpriced and put off customers at the moment with no stock at all. Very hard to get it. This is why I went for 3700x with gtx 1050 ti OC graphic cos I don't play gaming at all. I am not sure if this graphic card are better than 5700G gpu graphic?
