I bought a gilet from Gap online and it's just turned up and the zip is on the wrong side!? First world problem or not it's very weird, completely confounded me when I went to put it on and it's even more difficult to get off because it's not obvious which side is which (and I'm used to the normal side).

Just spoke to Gap and they confirmed it's supposed to be like that. Why?!

After a quick Google it seems that some ski jackets have the zip on the right and that they have no set rules in the USA. Proper weird!

Anyone know if there's a reason why it should be the wrong side? Presumably some ski jackets are because other people need to do them up when you've got gloves on or something.

You're wearing a gilet and you're worried about what side the zip is on? Think you have bigger problems than that mate......

American jackets often have the zip the other way round, my m65 army surplus jacket does as well as one from Hollister.

Men have their zip holding on the right and pull up on the left.

Womens are opposite.

That's what I understood all these years...

My USa Hilfiger jacket is normal as is my Polo one...

Had that with an M65 jacket too. Also i recently bought a nike manchester united training top, it also has the zip on the opposite side as to the usual uk side.

Stand collar with double snap closure.
Zip front beneath snap placket.
Slant zip pockets with pop color zipper pulls.
Slant snap-flap welt pockets at sides.

What is this I don't even...

Haha! I read it a bit like this:

It's designed to be reversible into a shell jacket, i.e. you can turn it inside-out and zip it in (providing the zip has compatible teeth), or depending on the brand, zip it in straight as you're wearing it, which is how some North Face 2-in-1s are done.

However, staying on topic, yes you are a girl
