Zlatan Ibrahimovic retires

Such a unique talent, an incredible career. To bounce back from the injury he suffered here at his age and then go and win the title with Milan who had been in the wilderness for years is an absolutely amazing achievement.

Talk about putting words in people's mouths, who has said any of that?

He just wasn't as good as he tried to make everyone believe.
Just the usual thing I've got accustomed to reading about Zlatan during his career and post retirement.

Well he didn't try and make anyone believe he simply had a gigantic ego, some may say was bigger than his ability (probably accurate) but that can also be played off as a public persona. So should not be taken as seriously as it is.

So yeah fair enough then, everyone is of course entitled to their opinions but overrated is for the likes of Dele Alli or Jack Wilshere who genuinely fail to live up to their early promise. Not a player who has delivered for 18+ years at the highest level.

Imo hes one of the greatest strikers every his scoring record speaks for itself

Nominated for the ballon d’or 11 times if it wasn't for ronaldo and messi he would have had quite a handful of those

Not once did he make it into the top 3 so even without them, he'd never have won it.

A very good player with great longevity but not nearly as good as he thought he was and often bottled it in the biggest games.

You’ve still got to be some player to be nominated that amount of times

I've mellowed to him a bit, I used to think he was massively overrated (the absolute pinnacle being when he was bought for Eto'o plus 50 million or whatever it was), but now I'd say he was a good player who was only moderately overrated.

I would place him alongside Messi and Ronaldo in terms of peak ability. I think they all did things with a football that I don't think the others could do. He wasn't as consistent in output though (although he did spend more of his career playing for less favourite clubs relatively than the other two. He has a remarkable league winning record considering the clubs he was at often hadn't won the title the season before.
