Not entirely sure I think a bit of a dream scenario.
what??
I must have been reading or watching something on the topic.
interesting, so this thing you were reading or watching did it suggest there is a high proportion of suicides are related to sexual abuse as a child?
In hindsight it was a daft thing to say.
fair enough
I was watching a video of him drawing fluffy bunny ears not so long ago.
and that means he was sexually abused as a kid?

I'm finding you rationale a bit weird!

Well I did actually say there must have been an event. Turns out the brain tumour could gave been that.

You make a good point, I stand corrected.

It's just that his case is so extreme. Do you think he just got himself a tattoo at the age of say 14 and then another and just got carried away with all the rest and the piercings to such an extreme?

I suppose it's possible. People talk about depression but we know that depression is the result of a breakdown somewhere. I doubt you are born depressed etc.

nobody should ever have to feel so desperate they take their own life.

I totally agree with this, it's terrible that someone feels that low and that there isn't any other way out of it but taking their life but I guess there's so many people out there in the world that want to knock someone down rather than be compassionate and actually help another person.

Breakdown?

Well, an event or accumulation of events. A relationship breakdown or achievement breakdown or a power struggle, a lost battle somewhere.

Something(s) have to have happened to trigger depression is what I mean, an unresolved issue.

Stress can be one of many causes. It's oversimplifying depression by classing it as a "breakdown" type event.

Depression can be caused by "simple" chemical imbalance in the brain which can be bought on by many factors such as illness or it can be passed down in the family. Or as a result of brain injury, i.e. See multiple concussion syndrome.

As for the medical side(concussion etc) I don't know. However I agree that a chemical balance will affect parts of the brain that control mood however that can be the result of say a broken relationship.

If you see people as purely machines then it's easy to argue in terms of chemicals, evolution, fate, luck etc.

But we still have common sense. We know when something doesn't go our way, however small, it usually invokes a reaction in us, anger, grief, misery, fear, revenge etc. So our mood, or whatever word you use, is altered, when at school people used to call it 'the red mist'.

So point point being that the situation comes first and the chemical change second.

As for depression or clinical depression it seems to be a permanent or semi-permanent change in mood/chemical activity in the brain. Like a ongoing state of misery. I truly believe this is the result of relationship breakdowns during your life to the extent where your brain has had enough of the grief that it auto shuts down certain areas, areas to do with mood. The only way to truly overcome depression is to reactivate these areas and to do that you need to resolve the root of the problem. However in the pharmaceutical world we live in, scientists are trying to do this via drugs. Not good.

I think he was very briefly in the Keanu reeves movie 47 ronin which was unfortunately terrible. I mainly remember him from that make up campaign Advert where they covered his tattoos to make him look "normal" then scrubbed them off to reveal them. That and the lady Gaga video.
