Seriously, Am I the only one who doesn't 'get' this fad?

Everywhere I look I see really bad t-shirts of 'zombified' video game/tv characters, zombie experience weekends, etc. There was even a zombie themed pub crawl around here during freshers week.

It just makes me cringe whenever I see or hear people talking about zombie survival plans and the like.

Does anyone feel like explaining why this ridiculous trend is continuing?

It's fun, its better than hoodies, it's using the imagination and getting children and adults outside for activities.

In general, it's harmless, fun for most ages and it's cheap to do!

Would like to add I have never done a zombie event, or anything of the like. And regret not doing so.

wow what a thing to have a little hissy over.

Zombies are just another fictional character like vampires, werewolves, etc.

Get over yourself though and lighten up. There are far worse things in the world to get mad at. I suggest you focus your little anger stops at them instead.

You are a zombie, aren't you? Go on, admit it.

I just don't like action zombies.

The zombies that run at you in games and turn classic games into mindless action shoot em ups, resident evil was ruined by action zombies.

Zombies are awesome. Always said a zombie apocalypse would be awesome, I would be a awesome zombie slayer :D

lol cry deeply.

i think what the op is saying, is that the 'zombie' thing is being over marketed now,

for years some of us have had a great time, watching zombie movies and having a laugh with it,

now with programs and movies like '28 days later' and 'the walking dead' this has hit mainstream, and has done for a while now.

and with the advent of zombie themed days out, and ad campaigns, it is getting boring,

and lately it is being hijacked by the facebook generation, and because of this it is being marketed to death.........see what i did there?

here is the worst example,http://www.facebook.com/greggsthebakers#!/greggsthebakers

anyways, i sort of agree with the op :D

It could theoretically occur if an organism could take over a nervous system, though the attributes that we give to the term of a zombie are fictional of course.

It's completed overrated nonsense for teenagers, gamers and those that haven't yet matured. :D I guess drinking and going out with the opposite sex just doesn’t give enough excitement or they've yet to take that step. :p They can come after me but they’ll never get me. :D

What a bizarre thing to post.

People haven't matured? Clearly you're too young for the Evil Dead series then....

You realise it's Haloween right?

I enjoy the zombie theme when it comes to movies, games, and having fun conversations with friends about what you would do if a zombie apocalypse actually happened.

It is compelling when done well in movies/TV shows/games because it's usually a bit deeper than than just "aargh zombies", such as how the people involved react and interact with each other (screw each other over, cooperate, whatever).

It provides me with more to think about than the Twilight movies or True Blood that's for sure (although True Blood is pretty for some boobbage :D).
