Zoom has cancelled all flights as of today & are advising to go through credit card companies if you want a refund.
I paid by Visa Debit, will this cover me? Also have Lloyds TSB insurance through our platinum account does anyone know if this would include cancelled flights?

Anyone else affected by this?

Surely if they have called in the auditors then chargebacks wont work, a chargeback takes money back from the place who took it. If its been locked down due to calling in the liquidators then no money can be taken out of their accounts.

If you paid by a credit card then you get your money back from the credit card company and they try to get it back from the place thats gone bust. Credit firms also have insurance to cover this kind of thing.

Because you used a visa debt card you may well not be covered, your other insurance however MAY cover it.

Uh oh, not very good news. I hope Air Transat are doing ok. I noticed that Zoom had vastly increased their prices in the last year. Shame, they were a decent outfit - always felt comfy and safe flying with them.

Called Lloyds, they can't issue a chargeback until they have permission from the liquidation company dealing with the bankrupsy that they can proceed. Apparently it takes about 4 days for that to come through, then they can start doing the chargebacks.
Dammit, was supposed to be off to Canada in a couple of weeks :(

good choice! now, fly BA world traveller plus!

anyway, i'm not surprised about Zoom going under. only low-cost airlines with mega-margins like easyjet can remain to stay in business with the rising cost of fuel.

Yep, the very nice stewardess kept the Molson flowing and had a smile on her face for the whole 11 hours! Nice people Canadians. :)

I'm flying to Canada in three weeks. We had a choice between Zoom and Thomas Cook Airlines as Air Canada/British Airways wanted twice as much.

We chose Thomas Cook in the end because Zoom's flight dates didn't suit our needs. Glad we did now. I'd be fuming if I was left with no flight having already paid a deposit on our hotel room.

Good luck getting your money back, no_1_dave.

Thomas Cook are cack mate. Make sure all your luggage is well under 20kg. They charge £10 for every kg over 20 I believe. Oh, and bring something to eat because their meals are turgid.
