Zotac vs Gainward?...

Any experience from the above two manufacturers would be appreciated, looking at the 4070ti SUPER models they both do, same price currently, was also interested in the MSI SLIM GAMING X, but thats £80 more and cannot justify the extra cost.

I know Zotac is 5 year warranty compared to Gainwards 3, but who deals with them? are they comparable besides just duration etc etc.

Cheers.

I have a Zotac 1080 mini that still happily chugs along

I also have a Gainward Phantom GTX (yes GTX!) 570 that still works.

I'd have no problem buying either brand again unless something major has happened to either company in the meantime.

E: I'd probably plump for Zotac myself but I can't really say for why.

Up to date as of May of last year, I doubt anything has changed.

I'd go with Zotac out of the two due to the longer UK based support.

Ended up picking up a ASUS TUF GAMING 4070ti SUPER.

Coming from a GTX 1060 6B, its an upgrade to say the least!....

Sick of waiting around, lifes too short, should it be less than £830?, sure, but I can afford it. Was originally intending on getting the 4070 SUPER, but I decided I wanna hang onto the card for couple years and do a total new rebuild with the new CPUs & GPUs out around that time, so figured Id get something with a little more grunt and the 16GB Vram.

Stunning card, built like a tank, all metal frame, backplate, idle at like 40c....in a closed case with fans on very low RPM. FULL load gaming, pretty quiet, sits at like 60-61c, beast of a cooler, probably the best cooler from the range, and this is with BIOS set to OC mode.

That's a great card, I hope you enjoy it bud!

Sounds like a beat cooling wise.

Some of that info is WAY out of date. EVGA closed down their UK RMA base a long, long time ago and everything goes to Germany now. For funsies I just tried the number listed there and it's been disconnected. Same goes for KFA2/Galax. The company that handled their UK RMAs (Partners IT Limited) went out of business in 2014.

The chart actually lists the fact EVGA is defunct as a GPU vendor.

The rest I would take up with the staff maintaining that thread, it's actually a sticky.

EVGA as a company isn't defunct though. They still sell plenty of things besides graphics cards and they still offer warranty service for existing graphics card owners. Their UK RMA base closed in 2019, long before they quit the GPU game.

It's not staff maintaining the thread, it's @Nelly (who as far as I know has no affiliation with OCUK).

I agree it would be useful if the/a thread could be maintained by a member of staff to ensure it is accurate and up to date.
I'll go through the list and update it within the next day or so. Made me laugh when Aretak said KFA2/Galax company that dealt with RMA went out of business in 2014, I remember they did it for BFG, I had a few top end Nvidia cards from them at the time.

Yeah, as I was pointing out, it's not your 'cross to bear' - I'm sure everyone in her appreciates the effort you put in to it! Would be great though (CS wise) if a staff member could take ownership of providing up to date details :)

I believe only EVGA transferred warranty and they're now out of the game, so assume no warranty. Members Market here, people will help with warranty. I've just sold a 3080 with 6 months left and will assist the buyer should the warranty be needed.

But Ebay sellers won't do this, assume no warranty.

How does warranty work when buying on , if I get the original invoice and register the card will I have warranty?
Officially: you're likely to have no warranty as a second user and if they find out where you got it from they'll definitely refuse (I don't know of any manufacturer who considers them an authorised seller, even if you buy it brand new from a store that IS authorised).

Unofficially:
1. If they require the original invoice, your name and address are going to be different.
2. The card may already be registered based on the serial number.

Zotac specifically: I suspect you only get their extended warranty (years 4-5) if you register it within 30 days of purchase.

Hi Mike, could I confirm which country you'd be receiving the graphics card in? Assuming you and your friend are both in the UK, there would be no issues with warranty - you would just need to retain proof of purchase and have confirmation that it has been received as a gift. This also assumes that the graphics card is purchased new from a retailer. However, if you are outside of the UK there may be different warranty laws depending on the country and we'd need to check on that in further detail.

That's what asus said.

I am after a 4080 or 4080 super for a new system.

I just hope 5000 series doesn't nuke the price of it in a few months though.

Asus do not deal with the end user though as RMA's have to go through the place the component was bought from so that statement from Asus is irrelevant. Please don't buy a expensive GPU on Ebay. Even if you get the original invoice it's not your name and address on it so that would be where and replacement would get delivered. Also any refund would be made to the original payment method leaving you without a card and out of pocket. Just buy one from a recognised retailer.

In this situation it wouldn't be an issue anyway, because if you received the card brand new as a gift then the original purchaser would (I assume) be willing to handle the RMA for you.

No bother. I bought an Asus 4070 ti from ebay and never had an issue, but I didn't have to use rma.

I might just go for the nvidia founders 4080 super and cough up the extra £125 for it over ebay.

Does anyone know how good that warranty will be? Buying founders direct from nvidia via scan UK?

3 years, retailer would likely handle it.

And the card itself is nice, albeit too expensive.
