All you people buying a 1080, will you be upgrading to a 1080Ti later on?

Think am going stick with my SLI GTX 780ti setup till the 1080ti come out..
And use the 1k+ money I saved from buying a standard GTX 1080 sli setup on something more useful like a 34" widescreen asus or acer monitor..;););)

And later when the 1080ti or 1080 titans get released and I know the prices then I sort out which new GPU's am going buy..

The thing is though once the 980Ti was released was the 980 really a relevant card anymore? how many people where honestly buying 980's new after the Ti hit? To me it was a choice between the 970 or 980Ti and I have a feeling the same will happen when the 1080Ti is released.

Peoples focus will certain move off the 1080.

Since this is one of my hobbies, I always upgrade to the fastest GPU. So I will be going from 2x custom 1080's to either 2x 1080 Titan's or wait for 2x custom cooled 1080Ti's if the 1080 Titan air cooler stinks like the one on the Flounders Edition 1080.

I thought you were big on watercooling.

IIRC you have built some fantastic watercooled PCs.

I generally go for either top-end or one tier below in most cases. My card history has seen me use a 9800 Pro, 6800 GT, X1950 PRO, HD4870, HD5850, GTX570, GTX680, GTX780, GTX970 (only because it was an RMA replacement for the 780) and my current 980 Ti (again only because my wife's 780 had issues for which I had a full refund of £290, paid £260 extra for the Ti, she now has the 970).

I'll wait for the 1080 Ti and see how fastvit is but may not even upgrade then, I don't mind sacrificing some settings for smooth framerates.

Same here. Pretty similar setup i have to decide about to upgrade or not. The difference is, your CPU is clocked higher a bit(100 MHz) and the GPU is on the stock until the new home arrives.
So, wait for Ti version. Even aftermarket cooler versions from 1080 are not so tempting.
Sell the 980Ti at the right time and get the new 1080Ti or AMD version.

I had my finger on the buy/pre-order button for an EVGA 1080 Classified but decided to wait for the 1080 Ti Classified, I made the mistake of getting the 780 then the 780 Ti, 980 then 980 Ti.

Not this time :p
